Inarius is the father of humanity, but he has demonstrated numerous flaws.
The premise of his character is to be an exception to the other angels, to have the grandeur of having become the creator of the world.
Right at the beginning of act 1, Inarius loses an argument against Rathma and still says he wants to GO BACK to the heavens? is this serious? going back to heaven to be a pawn would only lessen the awesomeness and weight that Inarius has.
I hope I’m wrong and that Inarius’ intentions are not to become subordinate to other angels.
It would be tragic for lore, I’m still not over the outcome of Adria and Deckard Cain.
He lost his will to continue his path because he banished his love for killing the renegade demons and angels… He had no one left … years of solitude will do that …
all those angels are really more annoying and foes than anything all diablo story anyway. at least the demons we know why they want to kill us all. they’re demons, what do you expect. some like lilith even like us, at least some of us, if anything as tools. still better than disliking us or wanting us plainly dead and toast and that’s it. the council wants rid of us. we are abominion to them.
imperius? sure, tell me more. malthael? yeah, another good guy. tyrael? pah. that’s the champ. mr ‘i fell from the skies lost the wings banged the head so hard i don’t remember who i am nor what eating means still i’ll preach you over everything til you die of boredom’ meteor.
and now here we are again, yet another 'i has wiiiings! bow to me, i’m supeeerior, don’t waste my tiiiiiime!’ (after talking to me for ages and i can’t damn skip that bloody boring useless stuff not even for a second ffs, i am the one wasting your angel time? oh rly?! not like you are there doing nothing crying over your dumb self from millennia, uh idiot?). preaching everybody down his high white snob horse.
i salivate for a moment in the saga where we humans are going to fight for our freedom from those greater beings messing with our stuff. and then simply kill em all. demons and angels. all of them. down to the last one.
at least, sincerely, can’t we kill inarius? can we? pls? just him? coming to pluck you like a damn chicken, gonna rip those bloody wings out, inny. watch your back.
For all I know, the angels betrayed Inarius, handing him over to hell for punishment.
If his intention is to abdicate being the father of humanity to be “accepted” by the high heavens and become a subordinate angel, we can say that the character is dead.
Lilith kind of said something similar to this, about not expecting help from beyond (light) and defending ourselves.
Inarius is not a good guy, full of delusions of grandeur, he set himself up as a god in Sanctuary in the past. And escaping from hell, he is right back in the worship me routine.
Yeah, he was subordinate under Tyrael so I can only assume he wants to go back to previous lifge before being tortured by Mephisto. Also, I think the best way to solve the conflict is for humanity to decimate both heavens and hell.
The best way for me is for humanity to declare itself neutral and have a kind of agreement between the angels and Inarius, maybe between the demons too.
that’s why i see him as a kinda telephoned “malthael 2, the revenge”. i’d be glad to be proven wrong on this, but i rly fear that sooner rather than later to be the case (hey, at least we’d be allowed to kill him, at that point).
I’m not really a lore junky. I like story and I like going through it but I’m the type that doesn’t remember stuff. So take what I say with a grain of salt… you seen like 10 minutes of the story. Maybe it’s designed in a way that makes you question what you know. Maybe you even question if you followed the right people all along. You might even choose the darkside in the middle and before its over realize you made a mistake because you don’t know everything.
Humanity was neutral before being found by heaven and hell. The nephalem will never be neutral if they can be more powerful than hell and heaven combined. So its natural that they will be corrupted by one side or the other. I think that at one point the eternal conflict will end.
Edit: Diablo 4 in my mind sets to end the eternal conflict by the way of expansion or some other way. I just hope they dont introduce some even more powerful side like they do i WoW where everyone has to band together to survive.
He’s been tortured in hell for many years, do you think he’s perfectly sane?
Also, I think you are reading way too much into Inarius. He used the worldstone to make a world where angels and demons did not have to fight. He isn’t going to want to go back to be a pawn. He was handed over to the burning hells for his actions in creating sanctuary and is not likely to see himself as a subordinate of heaven anymore. If anything, I’d imagine he’d like to take control of the heavens and stop the war from a position of power, but currently I think he just wants to go home.
He’s not meant to be anything too special. He’s just a character who decided he didn’t want to fight and not much more than that. He was a warrior who got tired of war and got captured by Lilith. After telling his thoughts to Lilith she agreed with him and they went on to gather followers, steal the worldstone, and create both sanctuary and the nephalem. If anything, he already proved he had a power complex by tying the power of the world stone to himself, without anyone knowing, so he would gain immense power and became the ruler of sanctuary.
