So Eternal Realm is pointless

With the first season starting soon, and then a new one every 3 months after…all the hours put into eternal realm basically gets flushed. Well not all…did beat the campaign. However, there is no point in playing eternal realm after seasons begin. So it’s like a waste bin for non-seasonal characters. Sure you can log in and play eternal…but it’ll be a wasteland since most of the pop will be on the seasonal.

They should have had seasons start maybe 3 weeks after launch so that we had enough time to finish the campaign and that’s it. I love the game, but hate the fact that all the hours played after the campaign are essentially pointless. I haven’t logged in since like the 16th of June because of the way the structure of the game is set up. I want to love the game, I want to play…but man I feel like I wasted a bunch of time on something that’s about to become obsolete.

Will probably at least try the season since I did buy the 100 edition. Also yest…I’m aware I should have read more beforehand.

Well they initially said that new seasonal content would be added to eternal realms as well, except for battle pass rewards, of course. They seem to have walked that stance back though

Nothing is permanent, gaming itself is a waste of time, you are wasting your time writing on the forums as well, why bother ?

This is how aRPG’s work and if you had done the research for the genre, you would know that every game in this genre operate with Seasons.

“ARPG” is a meaningless buzzword made up by marketing execs to describe cashgrabs with zero substance. D4 is an actually professionally made game unlike the rest of these gacha-in-disguise “ARGPs”.

You play d4 to see other people??

Currently the king arpg is considered POE, is that a gacha in disguise as well ?

PoE is the prototype for modern gacha cashgrabs

The game is marketed as having MMO features…one of the main features of MMO’s is the ability to game with other people…is it not?

Well, can’t please everybody. Seasonal resets are important to traders and those who love perfecting their build methods and trying something new every time around.

Not everything can be destiny 2.

It’s literally free to play, and if you call that a cash grab, then I don’t know what Diablo 4 is :frowning:

It is. And I am always grateful when I don’t see other people.

I understand their seasonal model now. I’m only saying it should have started a few weeks after launch not damn near two months. That way all that time post campaign wouldn’t have been invested into what is essentially meaningless.

PoE is free to play, free to grind, free to get frustrated, free to pay dollars in the RMT store to get any worthwhile cosmetics

You know what also means all those hours are flushed? If you stop playing the game at any point ever. Playing the game is fun. Having fun playing your character isn’t wasted time, even if you never use that character or its stuff ever again.

Well yes I mean I understand that perspective. But I think the problem is more about the fact there’s nothing interesting to look for in the game where there should be. If the game had a real item hunt going on where you could look for rare things to make lateral meme builds that cleared content just as fast but you rarely saw and were fun to play, people wouldn’t be able to get enough of it after the campaign.

But yeah, that’s the problem. They just don’t have any interesting items in the game to go after. No looking for group maker to break up solo monotony. If they solved these things, then this wouldn’t even be an issue imo.

Even if I had all those things, it wouldn’t be enough by a long shot. And putting in items that are a thousand times more rare than a zod in D2 is not something that someone can search for. They are effectively not in the game. They need to incorporate hundreds of very rare things, but keep the rarity at zod levels, which many Diablo 2 players still have never seen drop in their lives either. But they are feasible.

I am a fan of insanely rare things that only an extremely small fraction of the population will ever see in their gameplay, but they should not be the only chase items. Because planning to get struck by lightning is not good design for a game.

its no different than D2 seasons. This preseason was just to dip our toes in and get a feel for what build we wanna play ect.

You are not approaching the D4 super rare uniques right. You aren’t supposed to grind them. You either get creative with 3rd party tools (like the guy who got 2 super uniques did) or you join us in complaining on the forums every day until Blizzard wakes up and makes them obtainable without running a 1000 bot network

No they didn’t. They said that certain content (items, balance patches, QoL) would be added the same day and other stuff might be added later if it seemed like it worked well and would fit the eternal realm.
