I am a hardcore diablo fan and crazy excited about the game. Well at least until I saw the Barb video of last night.
I mean it really put me in a very desperate mode to see that endgame is same with Diablo 3 where you grind gear to get to GR X where you get together bunch of mobs, AOE them down in a way which you don’t get to feel that you are really playing a game and see what you are doing but rather watching 8 9 digit numbers popping up. At that point You can just leave the game to your 8 year old brother to spam keys in a certain manner.
I am really sad now (since I have been hyping for any Diablo game all my life) and I am in very desperate need for someone to tell me that I am wrong and that the endgame will be something different and enjoyable and make us feel like actually we are playing a game and overcoming challenges with constant skill check.
Unfortunately it looks like most challenging part of end game is going to be not fall sleep during playing.
Yes, this is complete joke. Barbar look identical to barb in D3.
The video does paint a bad image of end game, but its early to tell. This is why i hate streamers tbh not streamers per say but streaming.
Ruins any mystery to be discovered with new games. This is why gaming is going down hill, 10-20 years ago we had to discover games by playing them not watching them first.
Its launching, keyword is launching, with a fair bit of content endgame.
Endgame considered to be post-campaign:
Nightmare dungeons
Tree of Whispers
Helltides
PVP zone
World bosses
…and collecting any alters & renown you didnt whilst you sped through the campaign.
Name an ARPG that launched with as much? Hint: Its not POE, its not Last Epoch (which hasn’t launched yet).
Hopefully seasons give more and leave more in the game. Hopefully they give us a visceral endgame similar to a POE atlas or Last Epoch Monolith where wwe have a progression through some system to pinnacle bosses… not just “who can do the highest nightmare dungeon the fastest + leaderboards”.
I mean the general vibe I had got from the community was that people wanted something different, more engaging and in a way more fun. Of course I might be wrong and maybe most of the people are happy about it.
It was just very disappointing for me because I was expecting something different something that is taking more risks and trying to present a new thing.
Yeah maybe they could have done it by making us engage in smaller packs or something. Having all the mobs in the dungeon on top of me to the point that I cannot distinguish a single thing from one another really saddens me because as I said I was way to much hyped for D4 for years.
