We are going to be ok, the game isn’t broken, I promise you. The crux of the issue is that there seems to be an overwhelming sense of panic right now about how your class getting nerfed both in terms of damage DPS and survivability. It’s important, however, to look at this from a broader perspective.
We should remember that your class doesn’t operate in isolation. Each patch, like the current one, is a necessary part of ongoing game balancing. If every class experiences a dip in its potency, then by consequence, no one is truly being handicapped. Blizzard’s objective was to manage the spiraling DPS figures that have been reaching astronomical levels — quintillions, and even billions — numbers that are not only ludicrous but also unsustainable in the long run. Imagine where we would be in just two seasons down the line; these numbers would lose their significance.
I fully appreciate the effort and dedication you’ve put into crafting your character and its build. It’s understandable that this might feel like a setback, a blow to all your hard work. Yet, it’s crucial to comprehend that these wide-ranging patches are devised with the long-term health of the game in mind. They aim to ensure not just the playability of the current season, but also the enjoyment and longevity of future seasons.
Come July 20, we’re set to receive malignant heart gems and sockets — essentially a game-wide buff, which makes it necessary to accommodate this rebalancing. Let’s face it, the game is still in its relative infancy and many of us are already obliterating mobs and bosses with little effort. A game without challenge loses its allure quickly; for the game to remain engaging and long-lasting, we need hurdles to conquer and new challenges to master.
So, before you consider retiring your character or tossing your controller in frustration into a wall, give your class the opportunity to adapt and evolve. I assure you that within a couple weeks, the meta will shift and present new builds to explore. You’ll soon find yourself once again annihilating demons with perhaps a completely unexpected build or class that you wouldn’t have contemplated trying just a week ago.
Your gameplay isn’t ending; it’s evolving. The challenge is the lifeblood of the game, and with it, we grow, adapt and keep coming back for more.
