Small feed back note--The pseudo skill tree design is flawed

As the title says…

So I am sitting in a D4 char planner working on a respec of my Sorceress. I notice that I’m forced into dumping at least 2 points into a Basic skill just to get access to the Core skill group. What if I never equip that Basic skill on my action bar or in my Enchant slots? It would mean, IMO that those are 2 wasted points. Those 2 points could easily be used on other nodes. This blood flow linkage dependence design is flawed. I get that someone at Blizz thought it was a good idea to borrow from Game of Thrones, but nah. You aren’t doing me and the rest of the player base any favors with this design. I’m betting I’m not the first one that has encountered this.

I get that you guys want certain skills to be unlocked as the player advances in levels but it is uninspiring at best and I hate to be the bearer of bad news. D3 does it better in allowing for skill and skill modifier selection without requiring wasted points. Please consider adjusting the skill tree design.

I take it you never played Diablo 2, huh?

They could just add a single passive skill on the first node of each class, and bam, issue resolved.

Hmmm, I dunno… putting points into things that give you numbers you don’t want so that you can get the numbers that you do want is a pretty common staple of aRPGs, RPGs, tabletop RPG systems, etc.

Class design team will account for those 2 points. If you could put an extra 2 pointd higher up the tree then other things would get rebalanced. It’d all work out similar in terms of player power in the end and if it didn’t they’d keep rebalancing until it was. Probably aren’t really wasting any points.

This would actually be an ideal fix. Move one of the early passives to the first node.
