As one of the EU guys that cut their sleep in order to play a few hours prior to work, this is very unsatisfaying.
1.) Only post is on US Forum, not on any other
2.) Would have been nice to get a heads up prior to bed-time
3.) please define “small delay”. Is it small in relation to the time it takes to reach Level 100 at the original game launch (could be days?) or small in terms of the average breaktime an official blizzard employee is entitled to (so basically only minutes)?

Small indie company owned by an even smaller one. They’ve never launched a game before. How could you expect them to get it right?

Small as in it is expected to launch later tonight, as it states in the original post.

This was a personal choice made by you alone.

The ultimate edition was only 90 dollars. Give them a break, you can’t expect things to work when they say it will work, when they are releasing the game at such a cheap price!

Based on their stated launch time, which they should be able to get right by now. Don’t act like they decided to get up at a specific time for no reason.

Small delay can mean 12 extra maintenance hours that is constantly being pushed back every 2 hours to reach that number when it comes to their world of warcraft extended maintenance on patch day. Be pretty disingenuous of them to say “small” delay then make it an epic one. Blizzard would ne…oh no…yes they would! Oh no!

This is pretty normal for the launch of a game. Some people even take a day off of work. How do you not know this?

I understand the sentiment, but you should have also considered the huge possibility that the launch will be delayed.
This is on you.

It was normal in 1997 when Ultima Online came out

If you live in the US, you could for sure sue for loss of enjoyment. And yes: my choice but based on an official announcement several weeks ago. I held up to my part of the bargain (and paid the money), Blizzard failed to do their part …

Some people work, they have to make sacrifices to get time to play. Pretty standard actually.

Sadly this is standard operating procedure for Blizzard.
The trick is to take the day after off (at best). Never the day of. Their track record for “timely” or “smooth” launches is basically 0.

No worries an extra item in a chest will be given to all of us.

Your fault OP for staying awake and cutting into your sleep for this because this is Blizzard after all and they’re incompetent and every single game and expac has delays so that’s on you for cutting into your sleep for this.
That said, Bliz is incompetent and needs to do much better internal testing ffs.

This isn’t a new launch. It’s an update. Sure, we can split the baby and call it a major update (it is incrementing to 2.x after all), but it isn’t like the launch of a major MMORPG where the login/database structures fail. This is a Diablo update running on Battle.net. There should not have been a delay for such mature infrastructure.
This is not on them.
