Skipped the campaign for S2 but now I'm locked out of a mount

I played D4 at launch for a bit got to lvl 26 and then life took over and was too busy. Had friends that wanted to play again for seasons and I made a character with them and was able to skip the campaign so I can play with them. But they are much faster than me on a horse and I dont seem to have that option.

I was told I had to remake a character from scratch and play through the whole campaign before I can play with the horse. I don’t understand why I have to play through most of the quests game to unlock a horse just to be able to go back and play with friends and keep up with them.

Is this a bug or is it designed like this?

Receiving the horse was a part of the story within the game. Admittedly you don’t get it until much later within the storyline, but the whole point was to get the player to explore the world a little bit, then make it easier once you get the mount. Similar to how some MMORPG’s implement their mounts, not all mind you, but for some of them you won’t get your mount at level 1, you have to work for it.

It’s not a bug, it is designed like this.

Hmm, I dont understand why I was allowed to skip the campaign then. Seem counter intuitive. My choices are I can stay on my character in the season and just not have a mount for the whole thing or start from scratch and play through the campaign. Seems more returning players who never finished quest will run into this issue. Really knocks the wind out of you having to replay everything and fall behind your group.

edit: i meant is me being allowed to skip the campaign a bug?

returning people have the campaign usually finished.

also yes, if you were able to skip it, without ever having it finished, its def a bug. Id post it on the bug report forum.

You can easily do the campaign on your eternal character if he progressed a bit into the campaign

I looked more into it. There are posts about the same issue on reddit and apparently they made everyone able to skip campaign for Season 2 and is causing many issues. It seems playing thought the campaign will take longer than the time lost moving a bit slower with no horse so I might just play without the horse.

If you tend to play solo a lot this could hurt you in the long run without a horse, well not so much hurt but make getting to places extremely slow. If you group with friends every time you play you can always just teleport to a friend, problem solved.

That is very strange that they allowed everyone to skip the campaign though, that feels very short sighted on their part. Especially now with all of the mount changes. What happens if you go to the stable master? I’m guessing there’s no options there.

The stable guy says: LIMITED ACCESS complete Donan’s Favor

edit: I can’t get the quest in adventure mode? I might just try to knock it out on my original character I’m on a quest called Feral Nature there.

Imo you will regret not re-rolling and beating the campaign.

You definitely want the horse.

Sadly no you can’t get the quest outside of the campaign. At least not that I know of, you get it at the beginning of Act 4 if I remember (maybe act 5?), which requires a bit of work to get to.

yea i think it was beginning of act 5

and i agree you def want a mount. just get on your eternal character and get it done with. Also, maybe you might enjoy the campaign :stuck_out_tongue:

It “Was” designed like that when they originally released the game, but now there allowing players to skip the campaign entirely and not providing them with the mount in doing so.

I’m 100% certain it’s an oversight from Blizzard otherwise they would clearly state when clicking the “Skip Campaign” function that you would still need to complete Act 1-3 to obtain it, it doesn’t state that so how are new player’s supposed to know this?

It’s also not a bug, blizzard now allow any player even if they haven’t played the game at all to skip the campaign as soon as they reach Kyov which takes 5 minutes.

This was implemented with Season 2.

Just do the campaign… it does not take that long

I think the campaign in s1 took longer than the optimal leveling run from 1-100 in s2.

you aren’t replaying anything mate. you haven’t done it the first time

It’s not the point really though, they shouldn’t allow player’s to skip the campaign without telling them they need to do Act 1-3 first to obtain the mount.

New player’s won’t have a clue.

you could also just go back to eternal realm and finish it (not sure which character you have that is futher along) but if you finish it on eternal, it will stay finished just like altars of lilith…

now about all those darn way points! hah

What if you don’t have an eternal realm character? This is very deceiving… as I completed the prologue, then the option came up to “skip campaign”, now I’m stuck with a seasonal character that can’t complete any of these quests. I’m 3 hours in, and don’t want to spend 30+ hours on an eternal new character just to get the mount to play season…

Yeah, I was pretty careful about clicking the Skip Campaign button, trying to read everything on screen. But alas, I too am out of a mount on my seasonal character. I’m feeling for the rest of you guys who did the same thing. Is being disappointed with Blizzard a normal thing?

I got to act 2 before waiting for season 2 I dont have a mount either and I bought the $100 pre order which includes a mount.

Blizzard needs to address the no-mount for season 2 for players who skipped the campaign (personally I hate campaigns and like to free-dungeon grind)
