Skip Campaign option

I finished the campaign yesterday and wanted to try another class, found out that there is a option to skip campaign and picked it. Well to my surprise it starts a level 1 character that obviously doesn’t have the campaign. I was expecting that all the experience gained from the campaign would be added to the character and it starts somewhere between 40-50 range. Its basically an option that doesn’t seem to have any upsides to it.

Adventure mode was one of my favorite things in D3, I hope they bring it back in a future patch

Just be happy you don’t have to do the campaign again. Gawd. Complainers will complain about anything now. This isn’t WoW where they give you a free lvl whatever character.

It does skip the campaign, but of course you still have to level the character.

There are serious upsides, it’s way better than campaign xp and rewards.

You have instant Tree missions and waypoints

That is essentially what “skip campaign” is. You just have sidequests, dungeon crawling and (I assume) bounties to do eventually.

Also, of note, when you complete on SC side it counts it as done for HC as well. Nice surprise and jumping into HC sooner than I had expected because of it.

Besides the extra potion charges, skills from reknown, higher lvl gems in your stash, gold you don’t have to farm, a mount at lvl 1, obols, etc…? Nah, no upsides whatsoever.

Making assumptions always leads to disappointment. Nowhere was it implied that you started alts at anything other than lvl 1

Adventure mode was good for D3 because that was how you farmed for the crafting materials or a least the materials for the Horadric Cube. In D4 that’s not really an issue because of side quest rewards, breaking items down and harvesting nodes in the wild.

I haven’t completed the main story yet but are the side quests still available in the free mode? If so then doing events and side quests would be the way to level. Otherwise it may be a little grind until you can comfortably do dungeons.

At the very least skip campaign should be revealing the entire map and giving us all the waypoints (maybe strongholds?).

It makes very little sense to skip the campaign and start with a completely covered map you have to re-discover from scratch.

Bruh why would they negate leveling for a new toon? o_0 The whole point is to level new builds for replayability. It’s basically just adventure mode. You have no story to worry about and can get to dungeoning right away.

You get all those things regardless, but lose out on the xp from campaign missions which are all easy enough. Sure I can go “do” whispering tree right away, once I’m a high enough level to actually survive in Caldeum anyway. Just seems like its going to take longer to get to tier 3 with a character that skipped campaign than one that didn’t, given the option.

Like Borg said, if it uncovered the whole map and gave all the waypoints, it might make sense to me.

Instead of spending time doing the campaign just start doing dungeons, side quests, exploring, etc. Not sure what part of this you are having trouble understanding. Not going to take you longer to level - it makes it shorter.

Actually the whispering tree quests or events start spawning wherever you are. You don’t have to go to that one area any longer once you skip.

The part I, personally, have trouble understanding is how skipping the campaign, which is very easy and gives good exp early, would save time leveling up a new character?

Upon making a new character without the skip campaign option, I immediately get access to a mount and can go and do any dungeon as long as it isn’t too high of a level for me and avoid the campaign almost entirely, aside from the 20 minute “prologue” which honestly, to me, is no time wasted because of the easy exp. I don’t really see how not having the ability to do the campaign missions if I want to is a bonus, but I also have not tried making a character with the skip campaign option yet (which is why I ended up in this forum).

Also, instant edit, but I think the only benefit would be the few areas that you cannot waypoint because you have to do the story for it, which does seem like a valid reason to skip. However, I think making these areas open, but still allowing you to do the extra missions, would be a good idea.

Edited again because I had a terrible typo.

Sure it does. You get to do Tree of Whispers, World Bosses and Legion Events earlier. It’s actually quite a bit faster to level and you get gear much faster this way. My second Rogue is almost 50 and I level’d her MUCH faster than I level’d my main with far fewer hours.

Not entirely sure what point you are trying to make.

Skipping the campaign you can level a hero faster, not take longer.

Only just got through act 1 and still lovin it :face_with_hand_over_mouth:. Lot’s of ooooh and aaaaah moments!

Sorry, a little tired and meant to say I don’t know how skipping the campaign, which gives good exp early, would save time on leveling a hero. Sorry about that! Luckily, Vindicare answered my question very simply. “You get to do Tree of Whispers, World Bosses and Legion Events earlier.” I assume these are the best exp sources, aside from also being able to loot good gear.

Lmao, did you expect a boosted character? You can level way faster off endgame content anyways stop whining you didn’t get handed free XP. Ruins the point in learning how each character truly plays

Lol what?!
This is not WoW.
