Edit: Just some clarification. I am interested in the fantasy of capping out a skill of my choice (lvl25?), and I find the current choices severely limited. It’s just not fun doing that only through gear. There should be an additional way to target this fantasy where players are a bit more in control.
That’s where I feel Paragon nodes could fill that void, since it’s an endgame system.
Unimaginative design. There should be skill points all the way to 100, and separate skill focuses instead of the poor PoE imitation. Paragon should start post 100, and leveling should be much faster. So there is something to do at max level.
Right now by the time you hit 100 everything is maxed out and the character is shelved. They’re killing their replay value.
I don’t think he means +1 to all skills, just different skill +1s. A certain number of Paragon points to get plus one to a single skill could easily be balanced. This design team is just unimaginative.
it don’t change my logic.
If I can have +1 on a skill, why wouldn’t you get it?
Unless they nerf said skill to don’t make it too powerful, what I imagine, nobody wants.
I agree the paragon board should have opened up at 100 and I would still expect it to have a “limit” to a degree. The problem though I see with 100 skill points the skill tree we need to be redesigned and introduce more skills and or increase the skill point limit cap a skill could have such as 10 or 20.
Right now we have 58 points in total. With the skills capping at 5 max points. That cap would have to be expanded if we got 100 points.
I understand your design sentiment, but two things to consider:
% vulnerable damage probably more valuable than + skill points
There is a cap on cool down for certian skills, so more points does not keep dropping C/D. For example frost nova or teleport on sorc. At some point you don’t get any further improvements.
Finally, most of the valuable skills also already have access to ranks on equipment, so which it might be nice as a design, right now it actually would not be worth it to have on paragon board.
NOW, I do think some ‘unique’ skills on the board might make it fun and useful. But that would be a UI nightmare and require lots of coding to deploy sensibly.
Yes, it would have to be broken up from the silly attempt at copying the PoE skill tree. They should look to the their roots and do something similar to the Diablo 2 skill trees. Not an exact copy, but having different focuses and letting them interact would be some depth. Much better than the current system at least, IMO.
That’s redundant to me. When you reach level 100, you would have encountered A LOT of +4 skill points from gear.
Current powers on Paragon nodes are okay.
Playing the game up to level 100 is enough. We dont need to play this game forever. That is how it should be on Diablo 2 and Diablo 3.
On DIablo 2, I only needed a month to destroy Baal in Hell. I dont need very high level runes to destroy him. On Diablo 3, destroying GRift 150 is more than enough.
You can see on this thread. People dont hate Diablo 4. They love it. They want more. They want more carrots on stick after level 100. Most of them hate the game becoz attaining all the powers of a level 100 toon IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THEM TO KILL UBER LILITH or NM100. They want their toons to have infinite Paragon powers like on Diablo 3 so they would faceroll GR150.
I prefer Diablo 4 setup. It showcases who are the better gamers. The ones destroying Uber Lilith before level 100 are the awesome players. Not the level 150 player who would just make his toon outlevel the Final Boss by a great margin.
You killed Uber Lilith? Also, how did you complete all of the challenges if you didn’t even get to 100, literally one of the challenges is to get to 100.
