In a couple of situations I have been prompted to “ask for help” in order to proceed. I have no idea how to “ask for help” while playing the game. Therefore, I am asking for your help so i can ask for help.

Uhhh, prompted by whom or what? If in game, it might be that you need to emote for part of a quest line.
Exactly, you have to use the emote that says “thank you”
