Simple map usability improvement - PC users will say "Thank You"

Right now, if you are on a PC, there are no hover-on interactions when you want to click something on the map (see/try a prototype below). This simple fix will improve usability by 22.7% (x).

Thanks in advance.

I feel as if you have something disabled, although I’m not honestly sure what. On PC when you hover over a Waypoint it shows the name of the area, and the facilities available. I honestly don’t know how you disabled this, but nothing needs to be changed. If you right click it will make a Marker then try to make a route to said marker, or if you left click on a Waypoint, it’ll transport you there.

That’s how it should look when you hover over a Waypoint, or anything really, it’ll give you a tooltip for it.

Is this a console problem? Anyone able to chime in here?

Do you mean something like This: https://imgur.com/a/AMrmZa3

I asked them a long time ago to have a very small “Zone” around Waypoints so that when we’re trying to click one, the "Splayed :raised_hand_with_fingers_splayed: " doesn’t micro-drag the map in a stutter-drag effect due to minuscule mouse movements.

Basically - I requested a small zone around a Waypoint where the cursor will become an  (proper cursor/pointer) , the :raised_hand: map-drap functionality in this small zone around WP is disabled and WP clicking is “clean”. How there was no ‘transition point’ when hovering on a WP and interacting with it is beyond me.
This team needs a QOL QA Lead or Team that knows what it’s like to interact with all the various aspects and layers of a product many hundreds~thousands of times.
So much of what they “designed” is…just naive and shows very limited experience.

So yea. Anyway Idk if this is what you were asking for or suggesting.
I designed this back in oct and finally got around to posting it in November.

The other half of the infopic - “Please ADD a Whisper Waypoint to Completion Bar” is qol 101 no brainer too easy to add & enough with drag and scroll drag and scroll already you buffoons…
So many small things that just reek of clueless, inexperienced, design. Well made, well intended - lacking actual hands-on experience all the same.

Yep, confirmed, this is how it works on my PC as well.

im confused , u can actually use map marks to travel , sometimes some icons get in the way tho

I never had problems with world map clickable objects.
Probably something in your configuration in game options.

Yep. Exactly this. I don’t understand how is it possible not to have this in live yet.

And the Whispers improvement idea - hell yes. Exactly what I was thinking for the past X months. A direct button to tp to the Tree of Whispers once you fill the meter.

I wish I could answer that.
I’ve made many suggestions and they’ll often just fly under the radar.
Though I did campaign relentlessly for the Global Event Timers we now have in game. That QOL addition took quite a while.(not taking/assuming any kind of credit - I just spent months interjecting that, what I saw as a, QOL Necessity and day 0 feature).
Anyway, My “thing” is QOL & User Interface(ease of access, user friendly etc).
The little things boggle my mind haha.

Love that tool/site you linked. Never heard of it before. :+1:
That’s exactly the point my msPaint mock-up was trying to convey.
I hope people don’t think I want a “Yellow Circle” around all the Way Points and that it was merely illustrative of a small transition zone for Hand~map move-to-Pointer~click only.

Still hoping for the Whisper Bar Way Point addition Someday Soon™.

Hey ho!
I don’t have any issues with map functionality.
I am referring to usability.

Here is a quick prototype. Try it and you’ll see exactly what I mean :slightly_smiling_face:

If you had started with this instead of using the word “interactions” it would’ve been more clear. Details and terminology are important, your prototype is also helpful to convey the message, but I understand what you want now. I also have no issues with more options such as this in the game. I don’t personally suffer from the issues you’re having with clicking an icon on the map, but wouldn’t bother me if your idea was implemented either. I’m all for ease of use QoL options.

the proto really helps a lot. I saw your thread and couldnt really figure what you are trying to propose.

While i dont see an issue with the current way it works myself, i for sure wouldnt mind it as some extra on the accessibility options.

Sure.

Even on this forum, if you hover over elements the cursor changes from default to “this can be clicked”. So it absolutely puzzles me that the same behavior has not been implemented in a game that hundreds of thousands people play.

Instead of a clear WP click, it often happens that I just pan the map. Because there is no dedicated click interaction. Just the “map panning hand”.
