Silent Chest - Data Retrieval Error

Found a Silent Chest just outside The Omath Breach. The first time. I click on it game hangs indefinitely. I have to force close.

Log back in click silent chest, nothing happens, open inventory, get error:

Data Retrieval Error
Diablo IV was unable to retrieve necessary data. Please check your network connection.

Only gives OK as option and that crashes/ shuts down game client.

This is repeatable. Any time I touch the chest, doesn’t matter how long after I open my inventory and I get the error.

Internet is fine. Just starting game so only have 20 obols, have never bought any keys. I do get the message I need keys.

Interestingly enough if I click the chest and then went into the breach and then opened my inventory it didn’t crash me.

I couldn’t do any further testing as it disappeared after that.

I get the same error, except I can’t even get to the character select screen.

Yep I guess I spoke to soon, as of last night this error effects the whole game. Can’t get past character select. Game crashes with “Data Retrieval Error” every time I try to load into gameplay.

Great season! I spent my evening playing PoE instead last night.

Will probably have to uninstall in reinstall D4. Trouble shooting is kinda more fun than the gameplay itself anyway.
