Show pin pathing outside minimap

Dear Blizz, I detest having to stare at the minimap to follow my pinned path. It keeps my eyes off of the actual game world. I’d love for there to be an option to overlay either the red line path in some form, or perhaps partially (just arrows of optional transparency near the edges of the screen or turning points), right onto the game world. That way I could actually be on the lookout for mining/plant nodes, or other monsters/items more easily. It’s more about just looking at the world and not only the minimap when I’m trying to get somewhere.

I happen to play on PS5 but this seems general to all clients.
Thanks!

edit: To be clear, not suggesting a layer scaled on its own showing the entire map on top of the view of the game world. This suggestion is to add graphics placed literally onto the game world or at 1:1 scale with the world, indicating pathing or direction to very specific points of interest (like the pinned location).

We’ve been asking for a map overlay since before launch. I fully support this in any capacity, even if it’s not exactly a map overlay per se, but I’m all for QoL features such as this which are similar to a map overlay.

Well, on one hand I don’t really care about the entire map overlay. My use case is really just for the red line path. But I understand some people like having the entire map center of screen. I find that all the extra lines for a full map overlay just muddy up what I’m looking at, mid screen.

I would love an improved map UI!

I actually like the no-overlay, doesn’t mess up with the rest of the screen otherwise would’ve felt too cluttered

Sure always more options are better but I think they could just implement a simple indicator at the edge to show proximity/direction

Any UI update or options would be welcomed.

God yes! I miss the overlay map so badly. Having to glance over to a minimap in an arpg is just so… bad.

Hey, at least you aren’t like me with only one usable eye. Having that fullscreen overlay map in D2/D2R is a godsend to anyone that has vision issues like me.

If I read the post correctly, I believe what’s being asked for is the actual line itself show up on the game world terrain for you to follow, so you don’t have to take your eye(s) off of the action to see where to move the mouse to. Main issue there is the delay in the line’s route changing based on where you’re headed (like Google Maps does when you take a detour instead of the originally laid out route).

I think it should be implemented in the form of a flying pet, like a raven or something

It flies ahead of you and heads towards your marker. If you don’t have a marker it lands on your should or flies off

If you stop it just circles or lands on a tree perhaps

No immersion broken, potential mtx, what more could you want (other than cinder collection)?

Or… or…a seagul…named Steven…eh?

I’m kidding obviously, cus that fat fried tater eater ain’t flying anywhere!

But I like the raven idea, or just the flying pet, in fact just a pet would be cool. :dog2:

A few games have implemented this like BDO and Neverwinter. My partner and I always refer to it as the noob line of death because sure as shoes you’ll be focusing on the line instead of the game and go off a cliff or into a pack of mobs when the game pathing inevitably screws up.
