Should we celebrate the fact that Rob and all of the other top streamers finally jumped ship?

Should we celebrate the fact that Rob and all of the other top streamers finally jumped ship?

These guys pretty much copied incredible builds from elite Korean players and glorified them for all to see and copy. They glorified exploits / ways to play that were unintended.

They were the main reason why EVERYONE in T4 wore the same exact Uniques, Mythics, and Aspects.

With them gone, maybe people will start thinking for themselves? Or at least a little bit more?

See big multiplier, take it.
Item affects the skill I’m using, take it.

I don’t even speak Korean!

There is a lot more to it than that. lol.

Can you even Pit 150, bro?

Rob & other streamers didn’t “jump ship” because they hate the game or anything like that. The new game in the genre is out and of course they’re going to play that for their audiences. It would be dumb not to, not just b/c they’re streamers but as fans of the ARPG genre. Rob, Raxx, p4wny and them will be back on D4 for season 7 for sure.

Once proper end game leaderboards are in , which unsubstantiated rumours have it , will be season 8. “Greater Pits” or something will bring all the streamers back.
Season 7 will just be another season where your efforts are not recorded but at least there will be a armory.

Honestly playing hardcore has made things better for me personally, people playing softcore without leaderboards must be a struggle to keep motivation to play at this stage.

Better question.

Should we care?

Streamers will go where the money is. Currently that game is popular. Come S7 D4 may become more popular again and they’ll jump back. It’ll be a constant cycle. Definitely nothing I’ll worry about though, let’em do what they want.

Streamers are cancer. But fear not, they and their nut huggers will be back as soon as there is some big announcement. They and their followers are locusts. Always moving to the new shiny. Right now it’s he who shall not be named, in a month or so it will be something else.

What unsubstantiated rumors?

yeah especially rob,

These guys were not the main reason everyone used the same gear…Blizzard is the reason that happened. Lack of diversity in gear led everyone to using the same so you had some semblance of fun in Tier 4 and Pits.

Endgame leaderboard activity , something similar to greater rifts in D3… maybe they will call it “Greater Pits”
They said they needed to implement the armory first before they could add proper leaderboards. Not the challenge rift version we got with the gauntlet, that no one wanted.

I hate leaderboards they lead to constant balance complaints even worse tuan we have now.

Every class has its own leaderboard and that can be broken down to the spec aswell but spec level might only come later. With D4 paragon won’t be a factor, so it might end being more fair than D3.

100% agree !!!

Not all streamers are cancer. There are a lot of streamers that are top notch entertainers. There are other streamers that are proven to be amazing in their respective games and can wow their audience with their skill. There are also streamers that run community tournaments and community events that gives the game more life.

The problem with the Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 streamers is that they are more than the above. They highly influence the game in ways that other streamers for other games do not. Look at League of Legends. Players as famous as Faker cannot request Riot Games to change how much gold mid-lane minions give, or ask for mid-lane items that give them huge advantages over other lanes. Diablo 4 streamers HAVE that power. When the Diablo 4 streamers asks for the armory system, Blizzard throws out their previous design philosophy of making Diablo 4 difficult/expensive to respec characters, just to make the streamers happy. When the Diablo 4 streamers wanted Blizzard to NOT nerf broken builds mid-sprint, Blizzard agreed with them.

The real problem is that the majority of the Diablo 4 streamers are ex-Diablo 3 streamers. They want Diablo 4 to be like Diablo 3, instead of it’s own game. Diablo 3’s expansion was a commercial failure, yet Diablo 4 is copying it. This is an issue.

I would rather they follow D3 design over D2 or he who shall not be named.

Also, the devs of he who shall not be named have already said they will not do balance changes mid season unless it’s absolutely game breaking. It’s not just Blizzard.

But i agree, one of the worst things about streamers is their voices are artificially amplified by their followers or by being buddy buddy or outright paid by the devs. They have a disproportionate influence on game direction.

I’m not sure you can call RoS a failure 2.7 million sales the first week and by 2015 D3 and RoS had sold 30 million copies. No individual numbers after RoS launch I assume because they made it a bundle almost immediately.

and leaderboards are the reason most of the players that still play D3 go back each serason.
