I just dinged 48 finished the Campaign and trying get exp and better gear to get to WT3 and it’s been rather … Depressing ??
I was using a lightning Build with : ice barrier/port/spear/current/Spark/Chain lightning and going for crits craclking energy and ball of lightning enchantment.
Was wrecking stuff with this till lvl 40 …
Then I started get level by level WITHOUT atcually getting gear upgrades ?? And it seem’s the monsters level with me and the fact my gear ( Did I just get unlucky ??) wast strong enough I started taking really longer to kill monsters …
All this lead to 10min ago when I was safely ranging and getting a group/elite boss mobs down and then I saw a Barb same level then me whirlwind in the group and kill it in 5 sec…
Is sorc lightning bad and everyone needs be Ice shard ??
if u r leveling ice shard is where its at, but do remember once u hit 70+ restating ur entire paragon board will cost u 10 millions+
I’m level 82 and it only cost like 5 million to r do the paragon board, also ice shards isn’t the only build. Arc lash works just as good and firewall as well.
I tryed Arc Lash but I dont get how you want has a sorcerer to melee stuff instead of using spark ??
From what I experienced arc lash just makes me easy to get 1 shot or stunned by those elite melee that CAN now 1 shot me.
In Diablo, the monsters scale more exponentially than linearly. That means that most players gravitate towards the few skills that can stack multipliers for damage.
If you want to try to keep up with other classes, you’re going to want to Google the strongest Sorc builds. You can get by with your own build (like I do), but it will be tougher. I tried a lightning spear/CL build in WT3 and found it very weak, lacking the defense of ice or the healing of fire. Basically you spammed death with the ukt and then waited on cooldowns.
Im looking at build on the internet and I just dont get how 4 defensive an ultimate and arc lash can do any damage lol.
Do you want to join my party and see me destroy everythign in seconds? Arc lash procs lucky hits, you spit out tons of ball lightnings that do tons of damage. Also during vulnerable my arc lash its self crits for over 100k a swing. You also dont have to worry about mana and bosses literally die in 5 seconds after a few swings of arc lash with your ultimate up. Im farming level 45 NM dungeons as arc lash with no problem at all. I know its about to fall off but at the moment its more enjoyable than ice shards and can compete 100%. Both ice shards and arc lash hit the same wall around 60 NM
And just so you know, every single build for sorcerer right now is a melee build. Raiment unique chest makes teleport suck everything in and then you frost nova which is melee because its the only way to reliably make everything vulnerable. There are 0 viable ranged sorcerer builds
0 Viable ranged sorcerer build seems like a Game problem to me lol

Because the Ultimate casts a random Shock skill every time Arc Lash is used (possibly two more depending on gear) I would wager.

Because with the lightning ukt arc lash spams all your other lightning spells.
But the Ult lightning is a 1min10sec CD lol. outside of that your stuck with arc lash and 4 defensive ?? how
Yeah, that is wrong. Arc lash and crackling energy have CD reductions built into them. I find myself only having to wait around 5 seconds to be able to reuse Unstable Currents when I am swimming in CE. Every time CE hits it shaves time off Cd, as does AL. And when you have the aspect, CE chains to other mobs.
When it’s just trash mobs in dungeons or boss fights with no adds, the wait is around 30 seconds. And yet, in boss fights, I don’t even usually need a second UC to kill it.
I specced the same lightning and CE with the built in cooldown and chaining - it’s lovely
my dude. i have 42% CDR and every time crackling energy hits an enemy the CD on your lightning spells is reduced. My ult probably has an effective cd of 10-20 seconds.
You cant just look at a skill and base the whole build off one skill. The arc lash build is super strong, you need to look at the full picture.
There is nothing to do with sorc actually, just pray for a buff or change class

Ok so that build works with a legendary power !! I dont have it yet thats prolly why I think Arc lash is bad. Specially by the fact we have to be in melee range lol
I’m doing the same thing with Arc Lash and Chain Lightning. Spec full stun, go for the legendaries and the paragons that give you damage boosts to these. I’ve been running AL and Charged Bolts for my enchantments. I just stun mobs around me over and over again, making things proc in the same manner. I’ve also got the legendary that resets one of your defensive cooldowns every 10 sec when taking damage. It’s a lot of fun and stuns should not be underestimated…
