Should I Install the Expansion?

Came here to see what people were saying. It’s not very positive but when is it?

My no life buddy is in t4 already and said it was pretty fast and casual friendly.

People on forums are saying it’s slow and a grind.

Honest thoughts?

If you’ve enjoyed the game up to this point, the expansion is just more of that. Leveling is super fast, until you get to about 200 paragon, then it starts to slow down.

I don’t agree with the people complaining. Honestly it feels like the same game to me. The difficulties seem more difficult than before. For example normal enemies on Hard are fine, but the Campaign Bosses seem to scale beyond that.

Vastly depends on your build, but there are tons of improvements as well as content in the expansion. Nahantu is pretty big, there are side quests, there are lilith shrines like altars you can try to find if you like exploring (they give no stats so thankfully they arent mandatory). You have 10 more char levels and 100 more paragon levels to grind if you are continuing a previous toon or !300! if you arent. There are strongholds to conques as well in Nahantu. I am in the beginning stages of the campaign and so far I’ve liked it. Heard there is no fight with Mephisto , though. Supposedly, the scrolls of retempering are not exclusive to the dark citadel, which was my main gripe with the expansion. The difficulties are serious - I took my lightning storm druid decked in max rolled uniques with a 6 masterwork weapon and 15 lvl glyphs to the pit and was one tapped when i tried to do lvl 50 (torment 3) - so expect to have to be decked in ancients and have solid masterwork on all items even for torment 3 on a b tier build. In addition to the extra levels there are now 46 levels to the glyphs and a new tier to the gems, so the grind is extended. The mercenaries are fun but unfortunately they can carry no gear. The runewords have some real goodies. The art of the new monsters is much better - the snakemen from hawezar have their nahantu cousins which are much more scarier looking, similarly with the mosquitoes. Have not played spiritborn yet, heard it is pretty similar to the d3 monk. There is also a dedicated gem tab in your inventory, something completely pointless since gems drop in fragments and you can store your highest tier gems inside of items, but hey, its free qol.

All in all, I am so far pleasantly surprised by the expansion.

The campaign is mid. I have a few issues with some of the business practices they’ve been using to drive traffic to the shop. But the gameplay itself, the endgame syatems and new class etc is pretty solid. If you’re just looking at the leveling process, and then end game… I’d say it’s pretty good.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate the feedback!

Lots of new bells and whistles to play with like the mercenaries which can be used as a combat buddy with helpful passives and a vendor in one of the new HQ areas called the Den.

There’s alot more ways to target specific loot including amulets with passives, new seasonal potions which give stacking exp bonuses and of course the new campaign.

Most of the boss fights throughout the campagin are really well designed, a good step up from the base game, and luckily there’s only ONE instance of tomb lord

It’s a bit slow at the start since you gotta go through the campagin instead of helltides/ other seasonal events but it picks up after a few hours and overall the leveling is still quick, even while playing on normal/ hard difficulty.

It’s been grindy for me. They slowed the game down like in D4 launch.

In my opinion it is slow and grindy but I suppose that depends on your play style/gear.

You don’t have to play the hardest difficulty to start (like I did).

Just take your time with it, take breaks if you feel your getting sleeeeepy! lol

I loved the Diablo IV launch honestly. I had a lot of fun before it became a ‘Chase the Powercap’ festival.

It would seem everybody has gotten used to how season 2 - 5 were, now that Season 6 has slowed down quite a bit it’s just a huge let down to some people.

Maybe with time we’ll all get used to the pace.

Yes its nice a bit short but wanting more is a good sign.

I only liked the campaign. Last season felt like D3 though. I’m more of a D2 guy. This campaign is disappointing with a weak storyline.

I like the new class. It feels like a monk mixed with a witch doctor to me. (Playing Centipede build).

I think it is a good experience so far (I have not played since season 2 so I feel that the long break worked in my favor.)

Its just amazing !
No offence.

Casual friendly ? I’d say no at this stage. Only if you’re playing spiritborn.
Its a bit overpowerd…

LS Sorc is feeling well, but prepare to put an effort on torments.
No more faceroll geared with old grandpas pants. And it’s good !

Install and enjoy.
Blizzard did a great job. As always !
