Hello everyone and sorry in advance for the mistakes.
For a bit of context I’m rogue 96 pene shot + barrage with imbue shadow and poison. I’m thinking of changing my poison imbue for Cold which looks really nice and can bring a lot of control.
Anyway, the subject here is the effect of the dagger condemnation.
First of all, I think there’s a problem with the visibility of the combo points, which doesn’t make the gameplay with this spe fluid and pleasant at all.
Could the effect be improved?
For example, keep the damage it does, but instead of having a 30% chance of generating 3 points, make it so that all you have to do to generate 3 points is launch 2 basic attacks.
If you have any comments or suggestions for improving this item, please let us know.
i think it does need a sound effect, or like you said a change to make it not random. Even with a sound / indicator when it procs, i think it would be hard to react to the effect if you have a lot of attack speed.
Yes, Condemnation should auto trigger the 30%, or nerf the 30% to 15%.
I dont get this idea why the uniques are so terrible that we cant even use them because there not viable when they should be.
Definitely it should be changed but i don’t think that anyone from blizzard is reading these forums for feedback.
I made a topic about this issue over 2 weeks ago and multiple other topics in same manner were created by other people, but there was 0 mentions about this from dev team, even a simple one that they acknowledge the problem
In truth you really shouldn’t be using the dagger unless you just have no other options. For the life of me I can not understand why so many build guides have this dagger listed as BiS. I though surely these guys are min/max theory crafters they have to know something I don’t. As it turns out it seems like a lot of them are just lazy. Look at what you give up to get that 40% damage bonus. 23.5% Vuln damage, 38.5% crit strike damage, 21% Imbued crit damage, and either 63 dex or 19.5 core skill damage. Now the dagger also has core skill damage so we can call that a wash. The only other good stat on the dagger is the 10% attack speed, which is obviously a good stat but can be obtained many other places and not at the cost of crit/vuln damage. What about the proc that gives you 3 combo points? Well at first glance sure that’s great except anyone running combo points is obviously running the Expectant aspect as well. So anytime you proc the 3 combo points and fire off a core skill after 1 basic attack instead of 3 you are losing 20% potential damage. The other kicker is you ONLY get the bonus at 3 combo points. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I feel I am very disciplined in building my 3 combo points. Yet, despite that I still find myself firing off shots at 1,2 combo points all the time. I will grant you I’m using Rapid Fire instead of Pen shot but I played Pen shot from 1 to about 85 before I switched and I still used it quite a bit without max combo points. Every core ability you fire off without the 3 combo points you get exactly ZERO bonus. Now I understand you may not have a great pair of swords with all the right stats and this is your best option, but IMO you should be looking to replace this as soon as possible.

I agree. Both daggers should be changed to not have such a strong bias towards the combo points spec.

well, as pen shot you dont shoot shots with 1-2 combo points, because you literally use multiple sources which are bound to 3 combo points to max out dmg. Using puncture as basic attack also makes you generate combo points a looooot faster than bow or crossbow. You also stay at max energy points even firing pen shots every 2 seconds. I agree on having a maxed out sword is the same or close to the same dmg. Problem is that rogue has not enough dmg multiplier aspects so i think the dagger is perfect.
I wrote about this the other day. Yes, the combo-generating aspect of Condemnation needs to change. A Condemnation Proposal (with numbers!)
it’s already too dominating for combo point builds. It is easily BIS. So I don’t think it requires any more buffs (even QOL buffs). It might actually require some downward adjusting (nerf). Pentinent greaves also might require some adjusting. Otherwise it is two slots which are never going to see upgrades once these uniques are acquired.
I’d really like to see a unique dagger that adds a bunch of damage and a stun to your next cut throat skill after using your ultimate.
