This was a hypothetical assuming that the OP’s numbers were correct. This would be the absolute best case scenario and it is very likely way worse. If the absolute best case scenario is still assuming 7.5 years of playing 24 hours a day the actual number doesn’t need to be worse to know there’s a problem.
Yeah, you’re right. I still have my closed Bnet accounts from LOD with legitimate, non-duped 1.08 uniques; I have to update the accounts every Sunday, and I’ve done it for decades, .
You indeed could find a lot of those items in LoD doing Worldstone runs with Baal and his minions, the Pit, super uniques in A5, etc. If I recall correctly, Stormspire and the Constricting Ring were the rarest items until 1.10, and the Constricting Ring never even dropped, perhaps except once from Baal.
I mean, I was assuming 100 million hours at 85+ for 3 uniques, so ~33 million per drop. I don’t think you can include the 200+ million hours for the first shako since we now know they only drop after 85.
Either way… its an absolutely insane drop rate. That just can’t possibly be intentional.
Like… I can’t think of any item in any game ever with that low a drop rate. Like… literally in the history of gaming.
Tyraels was like 1 in 3 million? Grandfather would have to be upwards of 1 in a billion at this point…
The only one confirmed on twitter and wowhead showing up is the shaco drop because someone saw it on the guy on youtube and asked the dev if the uniques were actually in game yet. Nothing showing up for doombringer or grandfather confirmations. You really think they are going to sit and confirm every time a rare drops?
I found a few reddit post that say they have had doombringer drop, does that count? lol
I don’t get why people are so hellbent on defending an impossibly low drop-rate.
You do understand that it means you won’t get that item, do you? It’s not a "maybe I’ll be special" type of thing, probabilities are what it is: you are absolutely extremely unlikely to EVER get one of these items if the drop rates remain. So what is even the point of having these items in the game? They may as well not exist.
So looking at the other side, what if these items are “slightly” less rare. Then it means you have a chance to get that item, and so do other people here. Why is that bad? Does that worsen your gameplay experience in any fashion? No? So why being so happy gatekeeping?
PS: By “extremely unlikely” I meant that you are more likely to die tomorrow then to find any of these items. Sounds great doesn’t it?
