Shadow blight with a Summoner build

If I go with a summoner build, but emphasizes on Blight and shadow damage in general, should I go with Kalan’s Edict or Shadowblight?

Shadowblight. Kalan’s Edict is not worth taking even if you’re doing a “pure” summoner build. Pretty much a dead skill right now.

Kalan’s edict requires you not take any damage.

You will take damage. It’s a very bad passive.

There is a Streamer who boasts that he could do NM 70+ with Pure Minion Build with no Mendeln ring.

And he emphasized the use of Kalan’s Edict. He said that his Summoner would just have to choose good Dungeons/affixes where his Summoner would be able to hide behind his skellies. But almost all Dungeons/affixes are bad for Summoners. You would always get damage.

But I saw a player who showed his video. It’s like his Necro Summoner is like 100% Shielded. He is the type who could use Kalan’s Edict.

100% shielded how? With that corpse → shield passive?

I was using Kalan’s with a pure minion build (all skills points and paragon points into minions). Recently I changed from Kalan’s to Rathma to increase the damage of my blood surge and honestly couldn’t see the difference in the attack speed of my minions.

I’m using a shield that gives 20% minion attack speed, plus that skill that gives 12% attack speed, plus 10% attack speed from paragon and another 30% from Kalan’s should almost double my minions attack speed, but the truth is that it seems that those numbers don’t add up to 72% as they were still attacking at seemly the same speed whether I had Kalan active or not. (Not adding to the aspect that also increases their attack speed)

Saw some YouTuber that did some testing (something bear, don’t remember his name…) saying that minion attack speed seems to peak at only 30%. So I stopped using Kalan’s and changed to Rathma and, honestly, didn’t feel the difference.

It’s too much trouble running around trying not to get hit to keep up the buff too. And the last update fixed the bug that prevented your shadow mages triggering the shadowblight key passive. Therefore, I would recommend using shadowblight with the shadow mages if you’re going shadow+minion.

Do different applications of Shadowblight stack, i.e., Ones I apply with applies and ones my shadow mages apply? If it doesn’t, I feel my Blight alone would apply consistent Shadowblight on its own.

I honestly don’t know, but it still seems to be a better option to increase your mages’ damage than Kalan’s attack speed since it’s only active if you’re not being damaged.

They contribute to your stack count which gives better uptime.
Not a huge difference from my experience. But they speed up blighted procs by contributing 1-2 out of every 10 stacks needed
