Can you guys please add a shader pre-compilation process to the game? Every time you do something or an enemy does some attack or effect for the first time there big hitches. The game also stutters when traversing the map, especially egregious when riding the horse and approaching towns and other areas with npcs and such.
There’s been so many patches for this game and all the balance tweaking and added content… but none really addressing the performance issues the game has. I have essentially a top of the line PC with a 4090 and a 9800X3D and am willing to send a dxdiag report or anything else that the devs would need… but it’s a simple fact that shaders should be pre-compiled at the very least.
My game stutters all the time and has since launch pretty much. Most areas are smooth, but there are number of stuttery ones. Definitely some kind of traversal/streaming stutter but if it was shader compilation stutter, wouldn’t it resolve on a 2nd pass? For me, the stutters in the problem areas happen every single time I go there.
Unfortunately don’t expect any fixes. I’ve been reporting stuttering and performance issues for over a year, showing videos with frametime graphs etc. and nothing has ever been improved.
If either of you haven’t yet, try adding -disableds to the Command line settings in the Battlenet app. Hit the gear cog next to the play button for Diablo IV, then settings, then enable the command line, and that command above.
This will disable Direct Storage, which has been known to cause this behavior.
