Settings and opening cinematic on launch every time

Every time I launch Diablo 4 on PC, I have to go through the three initial settings screens, and then the opening cinematic will run. Once I skip it, I get my character selection and the rest of the game behaves as normal.

Then i also have to redo any settings i have changed, except key bindings,

I have tried a reinstall, scan and repair, but still happens

That means your preference file is messed up.

Browse to Documents\Diablo IV.

Find the file called LocslPrefs. Either rename it and add a .old to the end, or delete it. Then relaunch Diablo 4. It will have you do this setup one more time. But after that it should then retain the setting. Now if you’re running multiple desktops on different computers and your synchronizing them with OneDrive, this can cause a problem.

In those cases I recommend not synchronizing the Diablo IV folder.

Please note:

This will also reset your graphic settings. So be sure to make note of what you are set at so that you can reapply the settings after this change.

thanks for the response, yea i thought it was something like that, but the game isnt actually creating that folder, ive even searched the pc for it cause found the answer in another post, but was unable to resolve the issue

This doesn’t work for me, its not creating that folder OR file. I actually create the folder myself in hopes it would create the file but nothing.

Ok, that sounds like a permissions issue. And for some reason, I misspelled it above. LocalPrefs.txt is the actual file name.

As in the game doesn’t have permission to create the folder/file. And is resulting in the problem.

Are you on an account on your PC with full local Admin rights? Or do multiple accounts use the PC and one of them have full rights?

na im on an account that has full admin rights, im the only one the only profile on the PC

Well, that’s odd.

Apparently some Windows setting is potentially blocking access to your documents for Diablo IV to use as a location for your preference file.

  1. Make sure the folder is created in your Documents. And make sure its exactly:
    Diablo IV

  2. Then right click the Diablo IV folder and if on 10 choose “Properties”. If on 11, click “Show more options” then click “Properties”.

  3. Under here, go to the Security Tab.

  4. Click “Advanced”.

  5. Click “Add”.

  6. See if you can search for “Everyone”. If on 11, you may need to click “Principle” first.

  7. Then click “Full Control” once it finds “Everyone”. please note, this is only giving the system full access to the Diablo IV folder, not the entire system

  8. Then click “Ok” at the bottom right. Then click “Ok” at the bottom of the next page. Then “Ok” on the properties/security tab page.

At this point, it SHOULD work.

Please note these recommendations are modifying permissions for one of your document folders. I make this suggestion in order to allow the game to have access to this folder. This should NOT affect your system security. However, if you choose not to do this, that’s fine.

your amazing and thank you for your help, i worked out the issue while you were replying for some reason some of the folders in my documents tab were hidden, so i changed that in properties and was able to fix the issue with the file rebooted that and didn’t have to update my settings, but if it wasn’t for you it wouldn’t of lead me there so thank you
