Set Items When?

Are we getting Set Items, or not?

I would not mind some kind of limited set items. Others might say you should cut back on your smoking.

Totally agreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

All the paranoid people will instantly think you want D3 sets. Tbh, with the current itemization system, I don’t see sets would be fitting in the game.

Yeah it’s hard to see any purpose or need that adding sets would fill. Devs have stated their goal is eventually for each build to use 4-5 uniques. This will effectively make uniques function like sets with some target farming options for the different pieces.

Stop deifying Diablo 4 because the game was built on a terrible foundation. In my humble opinion d3 has more positive aspects than diablo 4. Diablo 4 seems more like work than fun…

Diablo 3 have good things, but being obligued to use a predefined set in order to reach high level content is not one of them.

If they don’t find a way of including set items that doesn’t make them mandatory, I much prefer no set items at all.

Set items are not needed. Is there some sort of content you can’t do with the items already in the game?

Where in my comment did I do that? LoL.

That is true, D3 for what it is, is a fun game. I like D3 I played it for 10 years, and I’m going back for season starts. Specaily the upcoming one as Etherial weapons were my favourite season.

I suspect at some point they will realize it’s virtually impossible to balance “play your way” and make sets to get 3 or 4 basic builds per class that can be sort of balanced.

Hopefully never.
While it is possible to make reasonable set design for an A-RPG, I very much don’t think Blizzard is capable of doing that.
D3 is simply a disqualifying effort in this regard.

Now, if they were added it should be something like:

  • Max 3 pieces per set. Like 2 weapons. A weapon and a shield. 2 rings and an amulet. Gloves, Legs and chest. Stuff like that.
  • Bonuses should be playstyle/theme focused, never skill focused. No “fireball set” or whatever. You can have the “dual wielding set”, “mobility set”, “melee defense set”, “single target set” etc. Working across all kinds of builds and classes.
  • Balance-wise, sets should be on the weaker side. Something you pick for its theme/specialization, even if it overall is a bit less powerful than using uniques and legendaries in those same spots. Which is how uniques should be designed too.

Definitely not D3 style where they became the centrepiece or your build with a few legendaries to round it out.

Need to be on the same power as uniques at best.

they already answered this question and i agree with it. The answer was NO, but not indefinitely. They said they will do it only when and if the opportunity is right. I believe sets are a noobie way to go because they inhibit/restrict build variation.

I for one hope to see more build defining uniques, more class balance updates and more updates to the existing uniwues so that they become better and usable. I don’t care about set items

actually they said 2 to 4 max uniques. You should watch the campfire again

I already have the season rewards so I will sit out the next season. Still working on the D4 side guests.

Close enough. I never watched the campfire. Way too long and boring. I wait for the tl;dw summary.

Almost all players are playing the same meta.
Sets = all playing same meta + wearing same gears.

Good call for diversity !

No thanks.

Soon

There are already items that complement each other and synergize. The green “Set” items are just the lazy man’s Cookie Cutter build for people that do not want to take the time to learn about the synergy between existing items and aspects.

They haven’t used green for item drops. So, there is hope. Maybe second expansion when we finally see Diablo.
