Just sharing my personal experience a warning to rest of you as well i guess, lost a hardcore character due to server lag, game froze for about 20 seconds while engaged in combat. My connection was stable and no loss was on my end. From what i have read there is no reviving of a character no matter the circumstances.
Can you at least add an option to immediately remove character upon any connection issues?

Jeez that sucks. Do you get lag while in the game, I wonder if its a computer performance thing. Sometimes I lag when browsing the internet while this game. This game using up resources in funky way that makes the whole computer lag/freeze.
Surpised no one is playing lowest everything settings. I haven’t had any network lagouts or lag deaths yet, no reason for me to do that, lucky I guess. I did lose power once but was after I cleared things.

regrind back to 50 or so, dreadful regrind especially if you want story completion as well.
No lag at all in-game, got a desktop recently, with rtx4080, i9-13900F and 32gb of RAM, have a SSD as well. It runs really smooth no matter the settings haven’t had a single stutter.
Meh i guess i will just stay away from HC mode, honestly i have lost few characters before this one but from my own mistakes. I do not mind that, it is part of the gameplay i choose but when i am unable to affect it in any way is rather of putting.
That sounds like a client side issue to me, server side issues usually look like rubber banding rather than freezes. No matter how awesome your PC is, the wrong code can lock it up no problem. Not an expert though.
This seems to happen to me in the open world MUCH more often, when monsters or players are appearing out of nowhere in the vicinity, especially. Nightmare portals in dungeons do the same thing, quite reproducibly. I restart the game and my system regularly, seems to help but it might be my imagination.
I don’t think they have any intention to remove characters on connection issues (which this doesn’t seem to be, anyway) or on software issues because of the potential for abuse. I would assume they will patch this stuff out before too long.

I have had my game do this… and it was my computer. Unlike other games that Blizzard releases… this game has multiple Memory leaks, and other stability issues. If i dont reboot my computer every couple hours while playing… this game does some crazy things… if i ignore the crazy things (such as a 20 second pause)… the game will eventually crash to desktop.
Another thing that triggers freezes for me is opening menus, quick action menu, even the map sometimes. I don’t know if you did that, but consider avoiding menu actions until the area is clear until they get this sorted out.

I am just a bit bitter as it feels out of control for the loss of this particular character.
It was a connection issue as i have lost the battle.net connection briefly as well.
Whether it’s on my end or theirs that’s up to a different discussion.
Me personally, can not invest more time in Hardcore because of this particular uncertainty.
Will play SC for the time being until i see some cushion that can warranty some protection from this thing happening again.

Well, yeah HC is a gamble…even if Servers were perfect if you lose power for some reason or your internet connection then you die…I hope everyone could have a combat dead but it’s impossible.
Also, Blizzard hotfixes:

I had the same issue you could run around just fine but all the mobs stand still some sort of weird desync did you have an open nightmare dungeon and be running other dungeons? I wonder if that could be related them just terminating your client because they believe it’s an exploit wouldn’t be shocked if it was. Honestly wish they would allow you to move your character from HC → SC through some sort of rebirth system. HC renown doesn’t transfer to SC right now so I can’t see myself regrinding everything until it transfers or season 1 starts even then I’m unsure
I just lost a character due to blizzard connectivity issues. Out of nowhere any input I put in was about 30 seconds behind and then my abilities stopped working, causing me to die. I can’t find any way to contact customer support, the blizzard website is down, this is absolutely unacceptable by Blizzard and if I don’t get help with my issue they can forget about the 10s of thousands of dollars I would of spent playing their games for the rest of my life.
