It’s honestly a total dealbreaker for me. I’ve never found these types of games to be particularly immersive so for me that isn’t really the issue. Although that might change if they decide to add Warcraft or FIFA skins etc. The real point of this feature is to prevent you from being able to just ignore the microtransactions and exclusive cosmetics. In a $70 game and at the cost of a less leggy experience, that’s really scummy. Unfortunately I agree with those that say there is 0% chance of this changing. It’s literally why the game exists.
You are everything that is wrong with people playing this game. I keep seeing people like you saying “if you don’t like the new MMO direction they are taking the game, then go play D2 boomer.” Well that argument goes both ways. D4 should NOT be an MMO. If you want to play an MMO, go pick one of the dozens that already exist. Go play WoW. Leave your MMO crap behind and let D4 be what a Diablo game is supposed to be. Diablo players shouldn’t be pushed out of their game/genre to make way for MMO players who want to turn every game into an MMO. Go play one of the others and let Diablo players have a regular Diablo game.
You mean you don’t want to see people naked dancing in town filling chat with emoticons and showing off their great physique? How would that break immersion? that seems so era correct!
not to mention i would happily get rubberbanding in town to see that!
It’s a “multiplayer action RPG”. That is what it is advertised as just about everywhere you look. It’s not advertised as a single player game. I’m not sure why you would think it would be. They have said it would have more multiplayer/mmo characteristics before beta was even announced. It’s better to look at what you are getting yourself into, instead of just jumping in and then complaining it’s not what you wanted after they already explained what it would be.
because every other diablo game in the series can be played solo… why would I expect the next edition to be solo… fair point, you got me! problem solved
But it’s… not. The only real multi player content is World Bosses, the rest is just enough forced interaction to be immersion-breaking and annoying. It was just not done in a thoughtful or satisfying way. I’m just left thinking “what’s the point?” I know it’s to sell MTX, but I mean what’s the point for the player?
Some trolls like you act like we’re asking them to turn the game in single player mode only. All we’ve been asking is a Private Lobby to enjoy the game as lone wolves that we are. You could go on with your mmo style in a Public Lobby. Calm down
From what I witnessed in the beta I agree with this completely. But if you guys keep preordering this game hoping Blizzard will change this in the future you’re really naive, the only way Blizzard will give us an option to us SP plebs is if they see a hit on sales. If you preorder this you’re giving Blizzard the message “I like this”.
Yep, I hate randoms running around. Diablo turned into an MMO with instantiated dungeons. Awful job Blizzard
That is not exactly true. Since the announcement in 2019 it was described as a shared world but you can play everything (except world bosses) solo. Actually one of the first questions after the announcement was “can I play solo?” which the devs answered that way.
Also it doesn’t matter what people should expect from the game right now. It is about providing feedback what would make the game better for many people.
People are asking for a private game option. Nothing should be taken away or forced on everyone.
That’s the point. Private mode should not be forced on players that like to see random people around (like e.g. in dungeons currently) and random people should not be forced on players that want to play privately (like in the open world currently).
It is a IMO bad one-fits-all solution and should be ‘tailored’ to player preferences.
Game evolution is great but there is no good reason to exclude a large number of Diablo fans from D4.
Warcraft 3 Reforged was a total trash, where they removed features that existed prior and failed to deliver on promises that they made that “boomers” actually wanted to see. And it was full of bugs on release. It was an horrible money grab. I was so exited about it when it was announced, so that i preordered it on day 1… just to be disappointed beyond any expectations on what i got. And once again - you blame “boomers” for not liking it, while forgetting that it were very same “boomers” who actually did puchase 95% of its copies, kiddies didnt even bother to try it.
If the Forced Shared World and the Monster Upscaling will stay I am not gonna buy this game. Both ruins everything for me.
Just vote with your wallet.
I think it’s obvious why they design the game like this. World of Diablo is not for everyone. There are some here just want to force their view upon others : You must love what they love ~ MMO.
It’s a different genre. They should not have marketed it as D4 then the “old folk” , traditional ARPG lovers and RPG fan will not be even in this forum. Just called it World of Sanctuary or something.
I’d bet some teeth that they already have a single player option in the works, if not ready to go, and they’re going to announce it shortly after the game drops.
Just like the real-money auction house, the always-online is going to cause easily fixable problems. And D3 on consoles got offline play.
I got high expectations for that! Fingers crossed! There’s a way to make all the kind of players happy for sure
Hey, the story starts with “horned women in your area cant wait to meet you”… there is a zone literally called kekistan and druid is the avatar of big chungus! At this point are you really surprised if xXSkankhunt420Xx runs next to you in a clown outfit?
I really hope they add a option like this but… i doubt it. Because they want people to see all the fancy skins from the battle pass and the cash shop to push sale.
It hasn’t been as much of a s***-show as I expected, but I still hate it. I want to see an option to hide other players, if not boot them from your world altogether. And from the number of outright racist and trashy names I’ve seen, I’m pretty sure if they don’t at least hide names unless you look someone up they’re going to get sued by some Karen for exposing their child to pornography and hate speech.
Also, I fundamentally disagree with the idea behind this MMO-like play. It is stupid and pointless, and in no fantasy world are you one of hundreds of millions of OP heroes protecting a population of a dozen or so “normal” NPCs that were somehow born without the ability to one-shot a pit lord.
Rightfully so. Blizzard forcing this onto players bc they want to be able to sell you addtional things via online store. It is impacting game play in a bad way at the moment
I had the same thoughts. I managed to ignore other players for the most part, but I did find one issue that I couldn’t ignore. World events/bosses scale with the number of players who are participating. I was soloing a world event and doing just fine, then three people came and joined but they did nothing except run in circles. So everything got bonuses and I ended up having to leave because I couldn’t solo it anymore with everything being 4x harder.
I was surprised to see other players because of the warning at the beginning to join xbox live or I wouldn’t be able to participate online. I play all other games offline and am perfectly happy with it. Not even sure I will buy D4 after playing that beta weekend. Feels kind of “meh”.
