Seeds of Hatred - Wasted on a cosmetic I apparently already owned?

I have spent a significant amount of time grinding for Seeds of Hatred in the PvP area in Diablo 4. Once I finally got the required amount, I purchased a cosmetic. Normally what happens when you buy a cosmetic from a vendor is that it disappears from the list now that you own it.

Sadly, as I went to claim the item in my inventory, the cosmetic I spent tens of thousands of Seeds of Hatred to get was already an owned cosmetic.

This is an issue that could be easily fixed. Either the item could be removed from the vendor’s selection of items whenever it is obtained through other means, or there could be a note or a symbol of some sort on the item indicating that a given item is already owned by the player.

This would prevent players from spending a ridiculous amount of seeds that they obtained over several hours from buying something they already have. The only thing you can do with an already owned and re-obtained cosmetic is DROP it on the ground.

Horrified, I went back to the vendor to see if I could reverse the purchase - it would make sense, right? It had not been claimed. But no, what you get is “Unable to sell items to this vendor.” Being able to at least return the cosmetic to the vendor you just purchased it from would be another simple fix for whenever someone accidentally purchases something they already own. Especially having used such a precious resource to have obtained it to begin with.

Not only that, but you are not able to even preview the cosmetic to see what it looks like. There is no inspect option.

If I buy something from a vendor and it then disappears from the list as it is now no longer obtainable, then it would only make sense that once it is obtained in general, it should not be in that list.

I cannot believe all of those seeds just went down the drain, and that I had no way of knowing unless I went and checked my entire inventory to make sure that specific item wasn’t already there.
