the seasons are terrible. and i play poe and d2 so i LIKE seasons.
we need leaderboards for first ppl to level 100. we need exp leaderboards past level 100. we need trading to keep the game engaging into the mindless grindfest that these games are (all of them are a mindless grindfest, its what we like about them, but we need to know we are working towards something)
we need titles for each season for the top 10 first ppl to 100 and top 10 ppl with most exp gained post level 100.
something akin to:
Malignant Master - first person to level 100, and the person with most exp gained past level 100.
malignant acolyte - person #2-#10 on both leaderboards.
like, i love d2, and i know d2 doesnt have these things, but d2 is old, we should improve on an old design not just strip features (like chat, trade, and random generation) and replace them with nothing and say we made a game.
if we’re not going with the impossible grind to level 100 method like d2 had, we should go with infinite paragon system past level 100 that d3 had. you should periodically be able to improve your character, any time, even if its a 0.5% resistances or 0.5% dmg boost.
these are just such basic features in modern games. how do you drop the ball so hard?
Could be here by S3. Will not be here in S2. It’s also not the biggest issue with the game. And let’s say we had leaderboards. There aren’t even have enough players for a top 100.
look, im not saying that this game is some stellar performing game, but lets do the math.
666 mil in sales in 1 weekend. lets say thats ALL the sales ever made of d4 (this is to your advantage).
lets say that EVERYONE bought the 100$ version (even though we know thats not true, but this plays in your advantage)
so on day 1 of release there were 6 million players.
now lets say that from day 1 to now 99% of players stopped playing completely and have no plan to return for any season ever (this also plays to your advantage).
this means that we currently have 60 thousand players still playing the game.
lets say that i am wrong, lets say that 99.9% of players stopped playing. we have 6000 players stilll. hell, even if 99.99% of players stopped playing it completely we would still have 600 players, which is enough for a top 100.
like, i think the game is in dire shape too, but it clearly has at least 10k players. otherwise you would have bobby himself coming out and apologizing and asking players to come back. probably on cable TV to be real because thats how dire the situation would be.
It’s an exaggeration, because the point is moot. There’s no players and therefor no reason for leaderboards. There isn’t even 1K people watching it on twitch because it’s boring AF. I’d love to see how many people actually forced themselves to Lv 100 this season.
leaderboards would bring the hardcore crowd back, and probably some streamers.
the point isnt moot. you’re not adding leaderboards for the people still playing, you’re adding them to bring people back from quitting.
and yes, be transparent, show us how many ppl made it to 100 this season.
i bet you that if we had lederboards, for top 10 to 100, or top 100 to 100 with titles involved for those people the leaderboard would be full every season.
because theres definitely 100 people willing to get to 100 if theres ANY reward.
There’s just no way. If there were a HC leaderboard, players like Wudijo, Raxx & Quinn would return to the game and once they get to 100 that would be it. As far as anyone else racing, nobody cares enough to watch them. If you’re a streamer, D4 is not the one.
D3 season are lot better by like 1000%.
i don’t understand why get to lv 100 take so f long. all i want to get max lv asap and farm nightmare D get my gear and see how fart can i push it. somewhere between D3 to D4 this got lost F fix it
While I agree with ya, lets not forget that the Biggest issue will still be the LACK of end game and the plain bad itemization…
Leaderboards may bring back some, but wont hold them… we need an overhaul of the base game (RoS lvl change) and this change wont happen before an X-pac and definitely with this ignorant dev team
I don’t care about leaderboards or titles at all lol, most people don’t. Fix the game screw the leaderboards, who cares who got 100 first if your game still sucks? I don’t get the obsession of y’all watching streamers get on a leaderboard.
that isnt fixed at all. its a lot to fix, but leaderboards and titles require very little dev time, you can probably implement these in like a week if you dedicate 1 dev to it.
so its pointless talking about big projects like redoing affixes, dungeons, random generation, endgame content, and so on. these are 2 small things that are high impact changes that can easily be done in a week or 2 if they actually want to do it.
Then you have people like me that gain no enjoyment from how others play the game. If you want that, well that’s fine, but I’d rather the fun come from my own participation in the game, and it needs work in this area.
Don’t care about leaderboards or streamers. The hardcores have their game and they aren’t leaving it for this one. D4 is what it is. Take it or leave it.
On a serious note.
If a bad game has leaderboards, its still a bad game. They can be implemented, but should never be a focus until the base game has drasticly improved.
They are working on a competitive PvE mode specifically so that they can have leaderboards for it and it can be another endgame mechanic whether you care about leaderboards or not.
Hopefully the bosses in S2 are a stepping stone to that, but we’re going to have to wait for S3 for that mode. Still a shorter wait than PoE2…
