Seasonal powers

with season 10 around the corner i think its time for the devs to get original and dump the stupid seasonal powers that has been plaguing the game since season one its the same mechanic and they act like its something new and its not, season 1-9 has been the same slop over and over and 10 will be the same. just one players rant

To be fair S10 does change the game up fundamentally. With the Perks and the Chaos armor together there will be very unique builds only available during this season, that won’t carry over to Eternal or any other season. All that being said, I agree they need to break free from this Power trip (pun intended) they seem to be on.

S10 looks a bit juicy but it does have massive issues still like no more storage and no new content. Its going to be really fun testing these new insane perks and breaking some builds but that might get us to week 2 or 3 and thats about it. Also they have done nothing to stop dupers and RMT other than chaos items since they are Best in slot now and you cant trade for them. Its a nice thing but not enuf. Dupers will still be ruining the boss scene.

It’s the same perks just different slots yea? I could see what your saying if they added new ones, just switching around the slots doesn’t change anything, amulet stats on pants woot but your still using an old amulet for that slot.

You are failing to see how impactful this is though because it essentially lets you use 3 amulets if you want. You can use iris on boots or glove. Locran talisman on boots or glove. Then banished lord tali as amulet. And you have a 3 amulet using hydra monstrosity with 25k mana because of mana shield. Its massively impactful. The build design and choices and possibilities are bonkers.

Ok I can see it being good for sorc since they can supplement defensive stats with massive mana pool but for most builds they are still going to have to balance out defensive side also, tho I haven’t played in a minute and defensive stats might not matter now.

It’s not Powers, it Perks!!! You Jerks!!! :hamster:

You’re now using a different amulet with better stats though. Not to mention if that amulet is now on pants it gets a 20% boost to its aspect and it’s maxed out. The Chaos Perks themselves (or powers if you will) also change up the skills for each class to work differently. S9 for example just has things attached to your skills, think of it more like a combo affect. You hit this hotkey it adds on this extra attack to it.

Just an example though:

Necro Unique Chaos Perk

  • Alter the Balance – Unique
  • Your base Core Skills are now empowered as Ultimate Skills, cost no Essence, but have a 30-20 second Cooldown. Your base Ultimate Skills are now altered to also be Core Skills and have no Cooldown, but cost 70-50 Essence.

This alone would fundamentally change how you play a build for a necro that uses core and/or ultimate skills. There’s other examples of course, each class gets 4 Perks (magic, rare, legendary, and unique) that change things up. Not to mention the other basic perks all classes can use. Now not all of them change things up for your build, some are pretty basic so to speak, but you can see they are experimenting at least.

How does this interact with Army of the Dead??? I was wondering that. No cooldown army of dead??? Get essence gen going and you can have 10 of these going at once???

Just essence cost, you could spam it as long as you can keep up the essence. I’m very curious to see what people come up with this season.

Just to argue, we had 7 seasons including S10 with powers, S4, 5 and 6, did not have any powers. But yeah it is getting boreing. Just give us the Chaos armor, that is a strong enough seasonal mechanic on it’s own.

I hate powers, they were fun the first two times, but now they’re long past being stale. They’ve gone rotten.

Rod hasn’t been gone very long. It will take a season or two to remove the clown make-up and hopefully do something worthwhile.

If Chaos armor works like many of us want it to it will be a huge step in the right direction. I want it to a be good thing but I have to be realistic and not forget there is a distinct chance they will botch implementation badly.

We will find out soon enough.

The big, big, big change is when you can use items together that you normally couldn’t. All of the builds I plan to test have this in common because I think we may see some crazy stuff, and unfortunately that often means crazy bugs.

I’m looking forward to using some “bad items”. Sometimes we get things that just are never going to work. Other times it’s an adequate item just not in the slot it is in. Sometimes it’s actually a good item but is overshadowed by other items in that slot.

I honestly care more about the chaos items having a max roll, given how voluminous some of the ranges are, than I do about the 20% boost.

In my untested opinion, some of them are just way, way better than others. The thing I do like is some have massive drawbacks, and that gives us problems to solve.

I would prefer if we just get a Chaos Recipe and apply it to an equipment we want. Let’s say I got a Chaos Recipe for Fist of Fate.

I can pick some random Ancestral pants and apply the recipe to create an Ancestral Chaos Pants of Fate.

season 10 is PERKS, not powers anymore.

Please enlighten us with your original idea, I’m all ear.

I guess casting it will cancel the current active army of dead.
