Season reset is epic

Imagine if in the next WoW expansion they released it with no raids. and then when you ask about the end game people say the end game is leveling a new alt, but you have to wait 2 months to do it.

Seasons and expansions are two different things.

We don’t know yet exactly what kind of content expansions will have, but I assume a new class each expansion is a fair guess, and I immagine some will also contain new regions to explore.
No idea about new campaign acts and the like.

What we do know is that they are already working on the first two expansions… Then again, D2 and D3 also planned to get 2 expos each at the start

Edit: Oh yeah, also seasons are free and come about every three months (or that’s the plan), while expansions (I think) will be paid; I guess we can expect expos every ~2 years (like the WoW expansions you were comparing seasons to), but I don’t really know.

when wow first released it released without raids…

UBRS was end game content, then they released Molten core/onyxia. it has been done

D4 is not an MMO. It is an arpg where they expanded the town and portal system into a, giant by arpg standards and miniscule compared to a true MMO, open world map. It is truly amazing and innovative. It is not without its issues and the newness and difference from what they are used to is causing the 1 % ers from other games in the genre to screech uncontrollably. No worries, their favorite games with their ball runs and hyperfast rifts or maps are still there. Patiently waiting for them realize D4 is not for them. D4 will still have plenty of players happy with the new game to be successful for many years.

This isn’t an MMO the MMO tourists need to go back to whatever dumpster fire of a game they came from.

That is not true. Molten core and onyxia were in at release. Onyxia was bugged(few guilds including mine killed her before the nerf). And molten core was there but Ubrs only dropped 1 key per run so you had to run 40 runs to get a raid into molten core.

We aren’t exactly sure about the size of Sanctuary, but I can tell you this. That map you see is not on a plain, Sanctuary is a planet and the world is round.

We have 5 regions right now and no way to know how much of the planet this takes up, but I’m guessing not much based on the fact no matter where you go, it’s always flat.

What I mean by this is if you are on a sphere small enough, you would notice a curve. This is not the case in D4; which leads me to believe that even if they don’t end up making a ton of more regions, they’ve at least accounted for them just in case.

Every WoW patch soft-deletes your gear by adding 26 ilvls of power creep, resetting your progress every 6 months.

I’d rather the game be upfront about it or let me choose to not play the new patch and keep my current level (eternal realm), which is how Diablo is set up.

Seasonal resets are very normal in ARPGs not sure what you people are whining for, we have nothing to grind endgame once you min max everything anyway.

You’ve basically reduced the ARPG genre to it’s base elements and highlight how broke the Seasonal model truly is with such a limited scope.

I think MMOs like WoW are very fun to level in and quite frankly offer a much more entertaining leveling XP than ARPGs, it’s not a quality growing game if that’s what you limit it to.

Imagine an analogy so bad it is like shoveling snow with a rake (see what I did there).

What you neglect to mention is that WoW adds new content including Raids and Zones with that seasonal power level increase. Diablo does not. Diablo has historically lacked anywhere near the same ambition WoW has.

Sorry Grant, but your analogy makes zero sense.

He’s highlighting the limited myopic nature of ARPG seasons compared to the robust offerings in paid live service games like WoW.

ARPG players have effectively drawn the short end of the stick with content drops for a decade, resulting in a normalization of a seasonal model that is limited in scope and relegated to re-leveling.

He did no such thing. Those are your words.

You are paying a monthly fee for WoW. You are not for Diablo 4. See the difference? Now go play WoW and leave us be.

Diablo 4 is unique in that it now has a paid premium pass, which changes expectations.

If your argument is your game is too cheap for quality content via Seasons then I feel sad.

Any season pass is optional. I did not buy the Deluxe or Ultimate edition and I won’t buy any season/battle pass. I am having fun in Diablo 4 and I am very happy me and my friends can play a game together now without having to play WoW. Diablo is more casual than WoW and I like that, sorry if that makes anyone sad.

Are they though?
Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 did not have any seasonal resets when launched. It took years for that to be implemented.
D2 needed it because of Blizzard let duping and hacked items run rampant for many years.
D3 needed it because it was dying.
PoE needs it because that is how they make money as a Free to Play game.

Diablo also doesn’t cost 15$ a month.
