I have a pc thats 4 months old - its a complete beast - I had some d4 crashes on my old pc where the screen would go black randomly and come back - then it started to just crash.
Now the screen will go black and just play the music till I hard shutdown my PC.
Blizzard is a marketing scam more than a gaming company now. They truly have no concern for delivering a even semi-quality product. If they didn’t have nostalgia they would be out of business by now.
The worst part is their gaslighting people that its their PC - no, all of our PC’s didn’t all malfunction in the exact same way at the exact same time. This game is deeply bugged and some of the code was outsourced so they don’t know how to fix it and don’t want to invest the resources to do so. It’s just finance people ruining these games for shareholder greed.
It sounds like an issue with your video card. Make sure your drivers are updated.
It could additionally be a program running in the backround.
the bnet app is also not optimized, i find fewer issues with game lockups, or black screens when I force close the app and just run d4, and a browser…
oh and discord which is also not optimized nor pertinent to this thread but…
My laptop is less than a year old as well, i do frequently update my drivers when i can remeba to but I can see where the op is coming from.
Cue up the Scrubs “Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!” clip.
The “UI goes black on town portal” bug happens on consoles, “potatoes”, and on beast machines with the latest drivers, etc. It’s a timing based bug so it hits somewhat randomly and everything from network performance to the timing of when a player clicks something could effect it.
I still have to edit my LocalPrefs.txt file to launch the game, for me that timing bug started after the first patch this season and temporarily went away after another patch only to return with the most recent one. There’s nothing wrong with my machine, the game plays just fine once I can actually launch it. But not everyone is as fortunate. Diablo IV is a bug farm disguised as a game. That it works for you doesn’t mean it’s a good product just that you’re lucky. For now.
His screens black and sounds on… it could also be ops power supply…
But yes you know exactly what wong with ops pc.
Or it could be the only game on his machine that does this. Gee… so why would it be his computer and not the game that malfunctions… what a mystery!
You would see a lot more theads on game not working. Just like when you have a fringe set of people saying servers are bad its isolated to a few. I remeber trying to help someone who had “super speed” with there isp of 50mbs.
Im not saying games are perfect as there are some hardwear that doesnt interact well with the game like AMD garbage.
I’m in IT and I know I am wasting my time trying to explain this so answer me this: Everyone is running the same version of the software. If it is bugs in the software it would be effecting everyone running the problem but my system is not crashing. I was logged in for over 6 hours last Sunday without any issues at all.
OP and others “must” have components that are not performing to specifications or have software conflicts with drivers or programs running in the background.
That would be true for simple coding issues. But timing problems will manifest somewhat randomly based on all sorts of issues. And this game is chock full of race conditions.
The software is a constant/controlled variable. It is unchanging across the player base. Hardware is an uncontrolled variable. Different people have different hardware components. If the great majority of people are not crashing than it is unlikely to be a software issue and most probably a hardware issue.
Then why do people on consoles, where the hardware is identical, suffer from the same sort of problems? It’s NOT the hardware it’s the software.
I don’t understand this comment when there are threads daily about crashing, multiple threads this morning alone…

Then why do people on consoles, where the hardware is identical, suffer from the same sort of problems? It’s NOT the hardware it’s the software.
My understanding is there are different Consoles (PS5 and Xbox) and different models/series so the hardware is not identical. Consoles also have driver issues and if they are not updated than there is again the issue of variance in users consoles.
Are all console users experiencing crashing or just a small percentage?
