I just don’t know if I find this fun. Some of the abilities from the malignant hearts are very cool, but everything about managing them is such a giant pain in the butt.
They take up inventory slots which are already scarce. You have to craft an item with an unreasonable materials cost to open the hearts in special events, and it feels absolutely terrible to encounter one of these events and not be able to do it because you can’t make an invoker. And worst of all (to me) is that the hearts are consumable. You can’t remove them from jewelry which limits your freedom to try different powers out because you can’t be sure when another will drop. So I feel the need to hoard them because I constantly have this apprehension that I’m going to waste a good one in a piece of jewelry that I will soon replace. It’s all more tedious and annoying than it needs to be and it makes me not want to keep going.
I feel like there was a way to design these mechanics to favor convenience and fun and they went in the opposite direction with it.
There’s only a small handful of options for each heart type for each class you will literally find dozens of each of the non-wrathful hearts while leveling, on top of that their power level scales with your level so you’ll actually want to replace them just as often as you are replacing your rings/amulets simply because you’ll want to get the increased armor and flat number bonuses.
I’ve already seen at least a half dozen of each of the standard hearts and two of the wrathful ones that can be found in WT1-2 and I’m not even level 40 yet.
I wouldn’t worry too much about not being able to replace one if you change them up.
Problem is, though, that you can’t predict the number of jewelery upgrades you’re going to stumble across during the mid game so you wind up hoarding a bunch of kinda good but not totally bad hearts – and that eats up space fast.
Why hoard them though?
Even if you get a good roll at pl 100 it’s not going to be worth using over a slightly worse roll at pl 300 because you’re losing a huge chunk of armor; and with the nerfs to defensive affixes you want as much armor as possible.
They drop a lot so no problem in there.but those wrathful ones…im level 58 right now.i could only find 1 wrathful and its not good for my spec.so you farm and farm and farm just to get wrathful…then you get something you dont need so you back to farm.eventually when the one i need drops, i probably wont use it till im sure i use that item almost forever
