It is unacceptable for the boss powers to be stronger than the character itself, and if that happens, it is not a good decision for eternal players.
Well, it is the PTR. So hopefully they make use of feedback.
The bulk of your dps in the ptr came from the boss powers. Without the powers, i.e in eternal, dps is seriously lacking and with the new scaling it would be pretty rough on eternal characters.
I don’t think people are too worried about seasonal being stronger. They’re worried about eternal not being able to level glyphs in the pit or push to T4 in some cases.
If they have scaled everything with boss powers taken into account, then without them…
The boss powers do almost all your damage. It’s not just that in eternal you’re losing a buff, you’re losing most of your dps.
It sounds like they only want a small percentage of players to run in T4, I am sure a lot more people will get fed up and move on. Especially if the season journey completion requires people to do things in T4.
Who knows… that actually may push people to try to get into Torment 4 by persuading them to play the game…longer?
I don’t know, I can only speculate as much as the next person. :-3
Couple of points I’d make
- agree balance of classes and power v env is sharper for eternal, particularly with it looking like pit 100 will be in the vicinity of the upper range ignoring boss powers.
- Boss power is an endgame seasonal mechanic… bosses are tough too when you’re still developing your power… seems ok to me the seasonal endgame is tipping that balance. Their dots can really burn before youre ready. That fits too imo.
Build balance is something they need to get more positive control of and to get builds into a tighter range and be more deliberate with how that balances against the environment. This affects both modes.
I think the seasonal objectives, or rather the seasonal reward is what pushed people this season to get into T4. If what they say is true that 50% of all players who played S7 reached T4, that’s fairly impressive. I’d be very curious to see the numbers before S7 mind you, as I feel maybe it was 25% or less hitting T4.
I could be wrong though, but I feel the bulk of the player base didn’t bother reaching T4 before S7.
This is terrible design choice. Boss powers if this strong (seems like they are) are making everything else irrelevant. It also begs the question how are they going to only have 10% in T4 if boss powers make u into Thor? They either have to tone down these powers or retract the 10% statement. They have put themselves in a no win situation.
