Lets make a “boss power” season that requires killing world bosses which are on massive timers and random, so for people that can’t commit to 14 hour days on d4, good luck getting the power you need to maximize your build, gitgud (in this case gud = quit your job and play 14 hours a day.)
I got the Wandering Death main boss power for my build… and I work 60 hours a week and play maybe 2-3 hours daily.
1/10 Get better at trolling.
I have played for 76 hours and still haven’t seen Ashava even though I belong to Ashava Trophy Club.
It’s not quite 14 hours needed, but even at 3 hours to catch at least one boss it is a bit of a demand to do regularly for all players.
At least only three powers out of twenty four affected by this.
Must not be a mentally challenging job.
…
The Avarice that spawns at 07:30 PST and the next one scheduled to spawn at 04:30 PST the next day, are separated by ~21 hours. The supposed schedule reads:
- Avarice
- Ashava
- Ashava
- Wandering Death
- Wandering Death
- Wandering Death
- Avarice
OP probably has a different combination than this in mind, to come to “14”. The rest is just to assume that OP’s work/life schedule conflicts with it. It’d be odd if Blizzard implicitly meant for players to wait a few days until the timer happened to sync up with their life, like a lunar calendar.
Changes in work/life schedule can happen - for example “weekends off” and “holidays” and “nuclear war”… lots of things can change one’s work/life schedule. To me it seems more reasonable to expect Blizzard to not spawn 3 (or 2) of the same 3.5-hour-CD boss back-to-back-to-back, with sometimes six 3.5-hour CD’s between spawns of a particular boss. Idk, maybe that’s naive.
It is 3 out of many powers. Use a different one.
It took me many hours to get some aspects i needed for my build, i used different ones in the meantime. Same for mythics and runes not dropping.
You still have almost 2 months to get lucky with boss spawns.
Edit: to be clear, I agree that the world boss system is bad. But it really isn’t the biggest of issues the game has.
The Aspect problem (some people take weeks to get theirs) is itself bad, and - considering it’s tied to Legendary drop rates, which fluctuate based on instincts the devs themselves don’t understand - they’ve known about it for months. A bad thing as context for this other bad thing… studio looks doubly bad.
“You have 2 months to get lucky” should end with “overcoming a challenge”… not “matching your IRL schedule to a timer they forgot to fix for the boss-themed season”. It’s even more embarrassing when one adds those words of encouragement, actually.
Also, nitpicking but, for someone staring at a 14-hour CD, I can imagine how it could be the “biggest” issue the game has for them.
A honorable gentleman of true culture and power.
I really don’t think changing the timer is the only problem there is with world bosses though…
They could make the timer 30minutes but the world boss system would still be bad. They need to change the way this system fits in the gameplay loop overall. It’s not just about changing the timer IMO.
They need to overhaul it entirely like they did with the lair bosses, like they will do with NMD next seasons and hordes in S10 etc.
There is a real problem right now with Mythic acquistion, which is mainly tied to the absurdly low drop rate of needed runes. Either make it more common for Mythics to drop normally, or runes. Right now the chance for an average player to get any particular Mythic required for their build is too low.
Now, maybe that’s what the devs want. And that’s fair. But it does put a definite timer on the season. There’s only so many boss runs one can do without reward.
It’s actually very challenging. I help build objects that revolve around the planet… just had a launch the other day aboard an Atlas V rocket.
Definitely beats selling used cars… and pays really well too.
