The requirements for this season’s Destroyer journey are crap.
In order to complete the journey, you are forced to kill a Challenge Boss.
Echo of Lilith / lvl 200 Tormented Andariel or lvl 200 Tormented Duriel.
There are many builds that have no chance of tackling these bosses.
So if you want to complete the journey, you have to
Swap to an entirely different Spec you have no interest in playing
Research all the equipment, skills and mechanics for this spec
And then spend a large amount of time farming out the equipment
All of this time and effort to tick off a box for a single fight that lasts about 5 minutes.
After which this Spec and all the associated items and equipment immediately go in the trash.
This is a terrible way to complete the journey. You spend 99.9% of the season playing a certain build, and then at the end, swap out to some irrelevant junk to satisfy this requirement.
There should be another alternative for completing the Journey besides the Challenge Bosses. As it has been in previous seasons.
Ever since season 2, there has been an unfortunate, escalating, requirement creep towards completing the season journey. To a point where it’s no longer achievable or enjoyable for casuals.
I know some play the game for challenging endgame content and for ladder placement. That’s fine. Me, I play for season journey and cosmetics. And I play very casually these days. In D3, this is very doable (T4 of T16). In D4, it’s akin to requiring a GR150 completion in D3. Just way over the top.
I’ve just discussed it with my husband. We’ve completed all but the last step - killing uber Lilith or one of 2 tormented bosses. Our chars are lvl 100 and have some masterworked gear, at lower levels. They feel ok to play, for a casual level. None are necros.
But: Neither of us feels like starting a new FOTM class & build and min max extensively until we might have a shot at completing one of the 3 remaining tasks due to the disproportionate difficulty. We just looked at each other and went… well, maybe that was it for s4 for us.
My question: Why does the season journey have to be on par with the highest difficulty the game has to offer? Wouldn’t the season journey be a perfect ‘thing to complete’, for casuals?
Suggestion: Please replace one of the requirements in the last season chapter and allow to finish the season journey by reaching level 100, instead of killing an uber boss or running the highest lvl dungeon.
I have 0 chance of killing any of them right now I don’t know how much power tempering all items to 12 is gonna give me but I can’t imagine it will give me much more than the baby tickle damage I do to any of them at the moment.
This will be the first season that I do not complete, locking it behind 3x skill based mechanic based encounters that you cannot just outgear/grind power to beat them, one shot mechanics seems to be the norm now.
yes. to this day i only have 1 piece of gear 12/12. which is only recently. i dont enjoy pit much so i havent run it a whole lot. only pushed to 106, i know i could go higher.
ofcourse im not playing hc. dont feel the need since i got all hc achievements completed in s2
Ok and why do you want to complete that? By what you said you were happy with your build and having fun.
But now you want to face pinnacle content of the game without a pinnacle/targeted gear and build for it. So once again, why do you want to do it?
Why the problem are the challenges? I mean they are there to be surpassed to push you to the extra mile, but only if you want to do it. If not, you are not missing any content you would be doing already.
While for people that enjoy it, it is a cool challenge with some good rewards but nothing that big (I would say it should be better and also include a cosmetic or something).
I got mine yesterday, rogue not a single item is 12/12, in fact most are not even 8/12. I am not playing heartseaker, I am playing RF, which is aim bugged at the moment.
What I did? When I decided I want to push harder I moved on from barrage, and had fun in this process too… It is basically normal progression for pinnacle content. Not all builds of a class will be able to do it.
when i played my rogue this season i leveled it mostly as penetrating shot. i love the skill/build. but heartseeker was too good to not switch too. also i could play heartseeker rogue for hours and my old hands dont hurt afterwards. back in s0-1 when i did tb rogue my hands were always hurting after i played
i was afraid i wont kill “updated” uber lilith this season but it turned out i just got better at the fight :"D
expecially phase 2 they made these homing 1 shotting missles white color now i can actually see them lol
and no, this fight is not designed to come there as a wolf companion druid and destroy her.

Or it’s , you know, A challenge. This is truly a non issue. There are free carries going on all day all over the place. If you want to solo it you can, but expecting to beat Tormented bosses which are 4-5x harder than their normal uber variant with a stacking permanent Debuff with sub optimal gear or skills is not gonna happen. Doesn’t mean they need to change the Season journey to suit you. Adapt and overcome. Either get a carry, join a group, or get stronger.
