#1 - don’t worry about tempering till level 100 and you find 925 gear OR a piece that you know you’ll keep. Also play D3 then I suppose.
#2 - the PIT is EXACTLY like D3’s greater rifts which you say are fun yet this isn’t?
#3 - not sure how it’s “flawed” as it’s basically old upgrading on steriods.
#4 - I strongly believe season 3 was a test and pets will be in the expansion but we’ll have to see.
#5 - it literally gives you a notice and adds a quest in your tracker when you level it up.
#6 - no they aren’t overtuned it’s the fact that players are now hitting WT3-4 alot sooner than before. I mean I had the boss summoned on a helltide at level 95 with a 52 in there , needless to say they didn’t know the mechanics , aka stay out of the red , and I died a bit to this. Is kinda frustrating but eh.
Season 4 , for me , is awesome. Probably the first season I’ll actually do multiple classes.
I don’t know what’s taking you 30-50% of your time or why you’re tinkering that often, but the loop you describe, ratios of time spent aside, is just the nature of an ARPG as you suggest it might be. I’m not really sure how that can be improved for you. Plus, D4 is already more fun for many of us than D3 as of this patch, just with a little less total depth because there’s no cube or legendary gems and there aren’t quite as many legendary/unique powers yet, and no sets, but they nearly make up for it with tempering, masterworking and an actual skill tree, along with the paragon boards. The game is honestly getting better as they go, and got a lot better in S4 with exception of the useless rare items and below, which hopefully gets remedied by the expansion through better crafting/currency systems. Also, all the S4 systems are permanent features apart from the Iron Wolves stuff.
I’m not a big fan of followers myself, as it seems like the only thing anybody really enjoys about them is the buffs they provide and the ability to take aggro intermittently. The wolves thing seems like a bit of a non-issue since they just tell you when you’ve unlocked new rewards and it places an icon on the map to remind you where to teleport to redeem them. As for Hellborne being overturned, I’m sure it varies build to build, but it’s nice to have at least something in the game that can provide people with a little challenge. There’s a hundred trash elites out there to kill before you ever see a Hellborne, so just dip off the battlefield or go somewhere else if they’re giving you too much trouble.
I understand why you’d say it, but I actually disagree with this suggestion. Tempering is insanely cheap from the jump and everybody should do it when they get new gear every so many levels. The issue is with getting overly distracted by it. The items you temper before 925 gear are essentially interim trash, so spend like 10 seconds per item, click one that sounds good and move on. That kept me really strong throughout my leveling with practically zero real serious attention or time paid to the system.
I have played a bit more with tempering today, and other than the affixes being way too powerful (nerf, nerf, nerf), the system seems decent enough.
The tempering limit actually makes me care about something happening in the game… which I nearly didnt believe was possible anymore in Diablo 4. Good job Blizzard!
Albeit, I would still prefer if items dropped with more affixes, instead of moving item generation to a freaking vendor in town. At least 1 more affix on items by default would be good.

Imo they are nearly the only good thing in Helltides currently. More mobs should be like them.
(and yes, I know they will no longer matter at lvl 100, when the absurd power creep scaling sets in, but when lvling and the monsters are way above your lvl, they are fairly nice)

Albeit, not those constructs imo. Bring back genuine D2 followers (as in, powerful in their own right, not just buff bots), with full item slots, and some kind of skill choices like in D3.
