Season 3 - Ten Improvements

For Season 3, I urge the developers to consider a few improvements outlined below. I’ll do my best to keep this thread concise.

1. Character Customization

I was disappointed by the very limited amount of available faces, hairstyles, and character options in general. The developers should expand these options while also adding the ability to change hair/beard style post character creation.

2. Poor Economics

Gold is too scarce and always in poverty. The bulk of our gold comes from selling items as very little gold is dropped, leading to a lot of downtime of looting and selling items after dungeons. Increase gold rewards for all activities and maybe even add new golden chest called “Treasure Trove” that can drop significant amount of gold and gems.

3. Vendor Prices

Gear available at vendors for purchase contains stats that are slightly better than my current gear, but the insane cost makes it too cost prohibitive. The developers should lower the vendor prices to be more reasonable and also increase the sell price of gems, seems way too low.

4. Treasure Goblins

Treasure Goblins need to drop ALOT of gold and add variants, such as gem hoarders, collectors w/ crafting materials, etc. Goblins should be heard before seen like their laugh in D3 which was exciting. Also, add The Vault, or Greed’s Realm, where the Treasure Goblins hoard the riches found across the world.

5. Affix Pool

I don’t want to get into a lengthy discussion on itemization, but I urge the developers to consider improving the affix pool, such as:

  • Chance To Cast Skills On Striking/When Struck/When You Kill An Enemy
  • Damage vs. Demons/Undead/Beast
  • Poison Length Reduction
  • Cannot Be Frozen
  • Prevent Monster Heal
  • Freezes/Slows Target
  • Elemental Damage
  • Extra Gold From Monsters
  • O-skills w/ No Class Restrictions
  • Charged Skills (e.g. Teleport, Summon Wolves)

Also, reduce most of the conditional affixes (close/distant/stunned) as they are largely uninteresting and inflate pool of affixes.

6. Low-Level Uniques

Developers should add low-level uniques, such as: Spire of Lazarus, Shadowfang, Crushflange, Gull Dagger, Wizendraw, Chance Guards, Magefist, Biggin’s Bonnet, Hotspur, Goldwrap, to name a few. Not all uniques need to be end-game items, but rather some sprinkled in that you find along the way while leveling your character. Cool things like this adds a bit of flair to leveling and these uniques can be found at any stage.

7. Cellars

Cellars are mostly underwhelming and often times skipped. Consider adding more depth and variety to cellars with more incentives to explore them. Good spot to add new golden chests called “Treasure Trove” that can drop significant amount of gold and gems.

8. Loot Filters

Loot filters would do wonders in terms of gameplay and immersion. An ARPG focus is on the item hunt and benefits greatly from not seeing a hundred white items on ground.

9. Stash Tabs

Consider adding (1) one more character specific stash tab, which would fix almost all stash problems. I often lose motivation to play entirely because of inventory management.

10. Experience

Lastly, the most troubling issue is leveling is far too fast now and trivializes the experience. It should take several days to hit level 60, not several hours. Please note I do not want this game to be a dull grind either. We need to find a healthy balance so leveling plays a central part of the journey.

I am for the low level uniques so long as they can also be found at max item level. I think having less rare uniques which fill a niche roll like “goldwrap” increasing gold find is cool. Or magefist increasing fire damage and giving sorceress a source of burning damage to free up an enchantment slot.

I wanted this before S2 but now leveling is just to fast. You get to lv 60 in lik 4-5 hours and already equipt 925 gear.

Maybe if the toned town xp by a ton it would be better. They need 200+ end game uniques

Agreed. You should be able to find low level uniques at any stage of the game.

That’s a little drastic, don’t you think? The game is still in its infancy and just needs to improve with every Season.

I do agree that leveling seems way too fast now. They shoud consider toning it down.

I’m with you on character customization, treasure goblins and cellars. Personally, the others are not an issue for me. If I could add my own, I’d like to not see so much wildlife killed inadvertently, lower cost of enchanting (I realize this is getting addressed) and for endgame, endless paragon in some form.

thanks for sharing your list.

Until they replace the dev team, this game is beyond saving. They have demonstrated nothing but failure and incompetence so far. In my work, people are held accountable when they fail so often, must be nice to be a game dev.

S3 is already built, it’s in QA and balance testing by now.

Well maybe not yet. They did say it hits QA 4 weeks before going live where everything is pretty much set. So 2ish more weeks to go on the development side.

  1. The lack of any type of a mohawk is lame. I agree, more hair styles. I tend to make my characters bald, especially the Barbarian.

  2. You have to choose from zapping items or selling them. I rather zap them and have a ton of mats for ‘improving’ new items them at the blacksmith. So, yeah, need some type of gold find. Repairs and buying items cost a ton.

  3. I agree. I have to wait till I have enough gold, by that point I don’t need what is being sold. Also, more options at the vendor would be nice. Cut the time for a new shipment of items in half.

  4. That would be nice, but not too many types of goblins, maybe 3-4. Gold goblin, murmuring obols goblin, random materials goblin, maybe one that actually drops decent loot. No need for a goblin vault unless they turn that into a dungeon. Maybe it will drop a sigil and make an existing dungeon with a random treasure goblin every x amount of mobs.

  5. That may be too difficult for them to implement. Plus you need those uninteresting items for blacksmith zapping or vendor selling.

  6. That would be nice. Don’t need a ton, just a few here and there. Like you said, add some flavor to leveling.

  7. Yeah. I only do them if they are needed in the journey. Before seasons, I would only do the storymode ones. I skip them, just like I skip the legion events now. Very underwhelming and no good loots either.

  8. Grim Dawn has a really nice loot filter. D4 should have something similar.

  9. YES YES YES YES YES. Just 1 more would be very helpful, two would be perfect, especially if I decide to play more than one class.

  10. The biggest problem I have with fast leveling is the items can’t keep up and it gets hard to level around 60-70, especially weapons. I don’t mind the speed in the early levels because the leveling slows down after 60 and that is a decent balance.

Omg yes, what would Mr. T think…

Not really. Ive only ever sold uniques because you get more money. Omg the tree gives so much gold.

Yes to more gobs but the fact that you get legendary items from gobs make them worth while, especially in HC.

Loot filters are for those to lazy to take 30 seconds to look at the spoils but it would be a QoL improvement if everything else was salvaged automatically.

Go to a world boss or legion event at lv 60. This is a short term issue of maybe 30-60 min of gameplay.

Yeah, whispers are that treasure trove he’s looking for. So much so that I don’t even pick up anything unless I need mats. You can’t sell enough stuff in a day to offset one whisper cache which you can complete in <15 minutes.

Omg I did campaign on HC yesterday for the achievements. It was such a slog because I was starved for resources and gold.

I think people forgot was it was like 5 months ago. Now you really dont want for anything. The last thing in the game that isnt just handed to you is the uncommon uniques from uber D.

Pity! Pity the poor fool for not having a mohawk!

I just zap em all, uniques included. Yeah the tree of whispers is nice for exp ( thank you blood tides  ) and gold. I still don’t have a billion tho, just 400 mil or so.

Yeah, I chase them down at the risk of certain death from the many mobs it runs into.

I am a bit of a lazy bum when it comes to gaming and games such as GD really appeal to me. Loot filter is always nice.

I do. I hit up WBs when ever I can. Tho I ignore legion events, when I solo, I can get more from dungeons. Then again, dungeons get boring after a while.

That was one of the best promotions ive ever seen. “Ill use the Mohawk grenade. Ah, Mr T. There is no Mohawk grenade. Shutup foo”

Yeah im sitting around 450m ive already rerolled everything. I wont need gold for a very long time and when I do I will have an abundance of it.

Garb some defense. I mean I died a couple times trying to do HT at lv 60 but it was to be expected.

Im not knocking that. Deep down im lazy as well but I have selective laziness which is more at work and trying to automate everything

Dont discount legion event. They do drop summon mats and if your leveling its a really good source of xp. If your also lv 60 xp is like boom and item drops are good at lv 60.

So you don’t run whispers…start doing them and gold isn’t an issue.

Im not going to touch on some of your other suggestions, but this 1 I agree with 100% (I think). Need to see how it plays AFTER the free weekend

PS Where in the heck do you waste your gold? After all the crying and tears on the forums gold is super plentiful. And just NO on the D3 treasure goblin crap. This isnt nickelodeon

Try not leveling in a straight power level/meta focus mode? I’ve been playing for a few days in S2 and i’m only 47. Not 60.

How the hell are you getting to 60 in just a few hours?

point i agree with: 1 - 8 - 9
points i dont mind: 6 - 10
points that are hillariously stupid:
2 - 3 - 4 - 7
basicly all accomplish the same thing
inflate gold even more than it already is
like if u do trading u dont even use numbers like thousands and often even millions
u have to trade with billions of gold cause its worth so little
if u wanna change the econemy maybe cut EVERY gold source by 99,9% (aswell as ingame vendor and enchantment costs)

5: while i agree there needs to be changes to the affixes the affixes u provided as example of better ones suck
like half of them would make the game way worse than it is right now
quick breakdown of the most horrific ones:

  • Damage vs. Demons/Undead/Beast
this sucks it will mean 1 of 2 things
either a u have to have like a full equipment loadout adjusted for +beast + undead or +beast dmg and need to change it everytime u fight against another enmie
or b those affix suck so hard that it will never be used and is an instant reroll / trash item

  • Freezes/Slows Target
    we already have that
caclled freeze / slow on lucky so we would have to many ways to slow and inflate the possible affixes

we already have that ?

this sucks to cause again 1 of 2 things can happen
either a its so good u need to have 2 whole gear sets 1 with gold buff to farm and 1 normal one to do harder content
and everytime u are forced to have more than 1 gearset for ur character i consider this one of the worst things possible btw
or it means b its so useless its instant reroll/ garbage item
incase this affix is good aswell as the previous mentioned +dmg to spefic enmies those 2 would make each other so much worse since u would need 2gearsets for each +dmg cause u also need one with +gold and one without

  • Prevent Monster Heal
    this is to specific
it would be completetly useless for most enemies in the game
and propably would only be good for a new (not yet introduced ) boss where it would be required
which both are options that suck

  • Cannot Be Frozen
also to specific should just be cannot be stunned since acutally being frozen is incredable rare

zoom out…

only thing i want atm…
