Season 10 is legitimately D4's best season

The reason’s why this league is so good!

Some context:
I am a playing a home brew tanky hand of Naz summon necro.
I am paragon 250, and I still have a lot to do on my char!

Leveling was amazing, I leveled as minion necro so I just put it on penetrant at level 1 and enjoyed the challenge! I had to leg it from chaos rifts at the start… Jesus they hit hard and had insane hp! but once I got one or two aspects at around level 15-20 they were an awesome challenge! I never rush leveling as it can be so much fun upgrading and slowly becoming more powerful as you level. It is the best way to experience the power fantasy imho! Absolutely loved leveling! Best season for it!

End game I am doing a much larger variety of content:

I am finding myself doing:

  • Pits - leveling glyphs, this is a low priority for me
  • Nightmare dungeons- to farm rep and obducite
  • Helltides - extremely important for forgotten souls and caches, also nice to get the odd chaos rift
  • Legions - needed for forgotten souls
  • Infernal horde - my go to for farming chaos items and gold. And I just love them!
  • Barely doing bosses, though once I have a lot of mats I can chain them very quickly due to being able to one shot them all. It was fun at the start when they were a challenge, but now its more fun to just delete them for gold and runes.

Random events!

The increase in random events has made content feel far more fresh.

  • The first time I got double butcher in a NMD was crazy! Maybe a NMD with just butchers and goblins?
  • Finding Chaos items randomly in non chaos content feels great!
  • Randomly getting only chaos items from Bartuc was insane!
  • Getting Goblin chaos rifts in infernal hordes was madness!
  • The goblin offering in infernal hordes is great!
  • The infernal warp buff is frantic whenever you get it!
  • Seeing those double or triple GA legendaries more often is great!

Gearing!
My glyphs are not even close to max as I just don’t have time to level them over searching for items, gold and materials.
I am playing more or less SSF, I have sold 6 jah runes for 1.05 billion gold, but I have farmed up at least 2-3 billion gold since the season started from playing.
I absolutely love the fact blizzard ban waved the RMT market, I actually gave up on diablo.trade and farmed gold myself… given that obducite was basically free (I currently have 420k obducite) gold and forgotten souls were my bottleneck.
My gear is far from finished, I have triple crit just 3 items (2x GG items 3/4 GA and a decent mythic). I am far from done with my chaos items and rings/amulet and they are only double crit.

The chaos items are absolutely incredible! I made my own build as I do each season, usually putting a lot more emphasis on being tanky, as I always like to be able to do bosses without avoiding mechanics. This season my build was completely upended once I started experimenting with chaos items. Them being account bound is what makes them so incredible! you play with what you have, they feel like rare items 2.0!
I have been mixing and matching 4 slots, trying to get the best combined stats, and this will go on for a while as they also combo as chase items due to them being account bound!

Finally moving on to the perks, they are some what less in number, but the fact there is a lucky hit perk to gain CDR (accelerating chaos) means as a necro I am not required to use decrepify as a form of CDR. This is build changing for me. I get to use reaper’s pursuit legs to get 152%x damage and move speed with a perfect roll, meaning I get move speed capped and don’t even use curses.

Build diversity and experimentation is the best its ever been this season!

Things I am not happy about:

  • Spires in infernal hordes are awful - thumbs up on it being fixed next patch though!
  • Xan rune is being changed so may no longer auto proc for my mages… this will really suck! I use it with brawn over brains so I can play lazy… bit sad if this gets bricked.
  • World Bosses still don’t work properly with some forms of lucky hit. I cannot generate corpses from them with Hewed Flesh, my Ahu rune doesn’t proc and Accelerated chaos doesn’t work on them.
  • Some small bugs like one remaining minion falling through a wall/floor in nightmare dungeons.

Anyway just thought I would fill the vomitorium that are the forums with something positive! really enjoying myself this season!

It’s bad that even when an OP is happy about the season of the game there is always an underlying suspicion of sarcasm anyway… :weary:

In some ways, but it trivialized most of the game, and really exposes the fact that there’s nothing to find once you get single GA Ancestral Legendary items and so forth. Mythics aren’t worth the farm, the one you can get from the seasonal journey is enough, though it comes too late to matter. Double and triple GA items are far too rare on tier IV, frankly, by that time, they may as well stop dropping anything that isn’t at least single GA, because you’re not going to want it, and there’s plenty of garbage GA items. Man, I really hope they consider a complete overhaul of the itemization, because it needs it so bad.

Glad to hear you’re having a good time. I’m not quite as excited about it as you’ve been, but I think you’re right that it probably has had the best pacing overall for a season in a long while, with the greatest overall enjoyability of most of the content.

I’m still not super impressed with NMDs and Hordes because they could have pushed these forward a lot further, and I dislike the constant red color of Helltides and Hordes as it makes me want to go to sleep after a while, but the overall experience so far has been pretty positive, with P225 and all glyphs at ~80 on a build that for now only pushes to about Pit90 at the moment.

I like that the Mythics have been pretty rare, as I’ve only gotten 1 after what has probably been between 150-200 T4 lair bosses, and I like that loot has been a little on the scarce side in general. Having said that, 2GA+ Ancestrals might be a little too rare, especially for Uniques, and I still feel like the good stuff comes too much from lair bosses instead of other content, but that might just be me.

Either way, decent overall balance with a good number of build options and I’m cautiously optimistic to see what happens in the S11 PTR. :v:

Yeah, the fact that we have so few truly rare items, with our “rare” items just being the same items with a minor stat bonus (GA), and no real crafting progression system which rewards regular play with incremental improvement or earnings, really leaves the itemization feeling a little “what’s the point?” after you reach certain plateaus. I’m really hoping that the content arriving with or shortly before the second expansion sorts this out, because like you said, it needs it. :slight_smile:

Anecdotal, but Mythics drop rates appear unchanged, while GA and multi GA seem a lot higher. I think there might even be a post on this somewhere.

I enjoyed beta much more.
