For past entries in the series, players would come back for a season or ladder reset. This would be a fresh experience for players returning after a break. Most people didn’t play back to back seasons in D3. They returned, played a season, and took another break. Most people in the D2 world are on again off again players.
ARPG’s in general are a repetitive grindfest that is also addicting. That addiction takes its toll after a month or 2 of ‘going hard’.
To start all over again so soon after reaching mid-late end-game pre-season is taking its toll on many players.
Most posts about the season being underwhelming all have an overwhelming tone of burnout. Pretty much every single one of them.
“I just can’t find the motivation to do this all again” is the mantra.
I think it was a mistake to have seasons so early in the games cycle. Or the season should have launched with the game.
Of course, the game has issues, but the first go-around was fun for the vast majority. But now ARPG-sickness has started to settle in. For those who don’t know what ARPG-sickness is (which can be applied to any loot-grind game) is that moment after you’ve spent weeks of your life grinding away and then suddenly ask “Why am I doing all this grinding?” and then you stop playing.
It’s healthy to stop. It’s healthy to take a break.
The season theme isn’t the problem. You’re tired.
You are right that most are just burnt out. I have definitely been feeling that lately but it’s in large part due to the game design.
They created far too many grinds that feel more like chores than a game. There are still a lot of bugs and a real lack of endgame. Just endless grinding with no real purpose or reward.
So, you’re suggesting that people don’t know their own mind and can’t tell their emotional state?
You don’t like the game! You’re just burn out!
Come on now. Do you really think you have a sound position when you say that? What qualifies you as the authority on reading other peoples emotional sate?
Even if you weren’t being a dismissive jerk for assuming what other people are feeling, It’s a huge sign of terrible design if people were getting burnt out this early in a release cycle.
I’m having a great time on D3 which is a super repetitive grind fest. It’s way more colorful and just all around more fun to play. For some reason, I have the urge to go home and do some solo GR’s and hopefully complete my chars build. No desire to do nm dungeons on D4.
ah yes, the good ole “the game is not boring or bad, it’s that you should avoid to play it, to enjoy it. don’t you know? games are meant not to be played, to be fun…”
You think I spent any sort of real time doing it? KEK Season 0, you could just play with a second account, teleport to dungeon and afk at the entrance, while playing your main.
Better loot, better density, more xp.
Burnt out from dealing with bad mechanics or something broken on the daily? I dont think I can go one day playing this game without something bugging whether it be a dungeon quest or event .
