Scythes, life on kill is garbage

Aside from all the other issues with the class that I have spoken about, why the heck does out class weapon have the WORST static ability in the game?

Swords get increased crit damage, so of course, at a high level they become the only options (Possibly outside of some unique).

Proposed change- Make scythes either extra vuln damage, or, if you wanna be really interesting, life /essence on hit, but that life on hit also applies to your minions. Would help a lot of struggling players out early, and allow for more essence generation / build variation.

Either way, Life on kill is a dead stat.

Sucks we cant reroll affixes on Uniques. Would be the first thing id get rid of on my scream.

I don’t think life on kill is garbage and if you’re playing a non-crit build you don’t want swords, although probably more appropriate would be damage against injured enemies.

It doesn’t scale into the endgame with anything. It’s a dead stat when 90 percent of the game is dealing with 3+ elites that die way way slower than trash around them. Getting 300 hp after killing an elite doesn’t offer anything at all of substance unfortunately.

For leveling or whatever it’s fine.

You’re not playing a non-crit build at higher difficulties though. And no, I don’t mean at level 50/60 or whatever you are when you first dip your toes into WT3/4. I’m talking about NM45+ dungeons; you are running either Bone Spirit or Bone Lance. That’s it. And at that level the life on kill does absolutely nothing comparatively

Even something like damage against injured enemies would be bad because it’s only going to apply for the bottom third of that mob living (35% and below) and outside of a few weirdly rolled NM affixed dungeons you shouldn’t be having them that low for very long at all

Yes I will do just that.
The damage to injured enemies i think it would fit the scythe thematically but what you don’t seem to understand is that not everything has to support whatever happens to be meta right now. So yeah, it should definitely be room for an endgame non-crit build.

There isn’t though (at least currently) trust me when I say the numbers have been run (by myself included) necro is so incredibly gimped on modifiers, we are left with next to zero options.

It’s not a bad stat at all. Lvl 87 and loving this stat. What it needs is to be inherited to our minions so they can actually survive stuff rather than rely on a priest whos heal doesn’t work until 5 seconds after it’s casted. LOK was honestly a game changer for me.

You ran the numbers and found out that you have the same options as every other class.

Does anybody know if “Life on Kill” also heals for 30% to minions?

you mean the crit based permanent bloodmist build? You realize it rolls crit to boost the shadowblight proc damage right?

I mean the nocrit version that stills give us permanent-ish blood mist and mostly deals its damage through BCE.

im decently confident it applies to minions according to streamers.

yep even lifesteal instead would be waybetter

Life on kill is awesome. If you don’t like it fortunately Necromancers have plenty of other weapons at their disposal. Leave my life on kill alone.

i liked the life on kill until level 70 or so. after that i prefered other stats.

Life on kill is great for like, 90% of the game. My health bar rarely dips below 75%. Being able to corpse explode a mob and instantly refill my health bar is clutch for a squishy necro build.

Later on you get pants that create shields based on excess healing. Same with a ring that generates resources via heals. Not totally useless. I still like wands though;)

I literally run my Life on Kill Scythe over my sword (much better stats) simply for the life on kill.

I am EASILY running level 40 - 50 NM dungeons (not pushing it…cause there is no need for Uber uniques to drop) and throwing out my bone spears literally always keeps me topped off.

I MIGHT switch to my sword if I encounter the butcher, but other than that, my +221 life on kill keeps me topped off and I barely ever have to hit a pot.

I wish the stat was more in the game.
