Scroll of Retempering will not be locked behind group only content

from the Xbox twitch channel from yesterday,
Citadels are a place where we take what is the best part of Diablo, Combat, and we test it in a different way which is adding in cooperative mechanics that you have to manage on top of that. For example, a boss has an attack, as a player you have to collect an item that allows you to reflect the attack back at him, so there’s a little bit of a twitch level mechanic there where you actually have to time your reaction shot. What’s interesting about it is when you get multiple people in there, we’re each responsible for reflecting that shot once so we all have to sort of master the timing of that move. You can’t do that kind of thing without coordinating as a team. That’s sort of the example of what Citadel gameplay feels like.

@Ashpey did we listen to the same video? This isn’t just being in the same area as someone. This is cooperation which requires party coordination. It changes things, I think.

I love ARPG games - I have played them from the first Diablo game. Blizzard are just taking this title in directions that I dont like. Just like they did with Diablo Immortal. Did I play that game? Nope.

The last hope Blizzard had to keep true ARPG players interested in Diablo 4 was to actually create stronger endgame content. They are not doing that but instead spending extra effort to divide the players - rather than giving them real options.

I have not skipped a single part of D4 m8. Other than grouping up. And I’ve even gotten 5 Mytics none grouped up. I have played through every season with 1 or 2 characters and killed Lilith every single one. But ye… I have zero reason to buy this expansion like I have explained before. And the co-op focus endgame was just the final nail.

Diablo 4 is going into directions I don’t want in my ARPG gaming. I’m not spending 40-90 dollars to watch some cutschenes that I can watch on Youtube. So you can twist my words all you like. But you very well know your argument of talking down OTHER members in the Diablo community is exactly why it is so bad. That is on you … not on the players that are just pointing out issues they have with the direction the devs are taking the game.

If you think I’m spending money on this expansion… then think again. I wont be there simply because the developer is literally forcing players that want a true ARPG experience out of the game. And thankfully we have another ARPG game releasing soon enough that will keep the core of the oldschool ARPG games. You know the game that has triple the interest now on Twitch right now as we speak. And their season is more than month old.

Introducing multiplayer only content and rewards is a fundamental change to the game. The very reason I was reluctant at first in buying D4 before leaning that everything could be done solo. This multiplayer content only might very limited in the expansion but it nevertheless demonstrates an evolution of the game. I said multiple time that I will buy the expansion upon release but I am not sure any more if this is the path the game is taking.

Except co-op is grouping. A group of 2 is still a group.

Since you seem to be having difficulty understanding the difference between multiplayer and grouping let me try a real world example:

Grouping:

One day at work 3 coworkers and I decided to go to lunch. We spent 15 minutes deciding where we were going to go and the time we would leave. Unfortunately we picked a place I didn’t particularly like. When the time came to leave one of our group got caught up with something and we had to wait another 20 minutes for them. They wrap up and we get to the car and the person who offered to drive forgot that they had 3 car seats and 58 thousand candy wrappers in the car so we spent another 15 minutes cleaning their car. We finally get to the restaurant and one of the other workers needed to be back in the office shortly. So now we had to get everything to go. We drive back to the office and I eat cold food I don’t particularly like for lunch.

Multiplayer:

One day at work I decide to go out for lunch. I go where I want, when I want, driving my own car, and stay as long as I want. I have a nice hot meal that I enjoy. Oh, and there are some other people in the restaurant who didn’t effect me in any way.

I dont agree with you but everyone likes different things. Sorry that you dont like the game.

Good.
Cheapskates Diablo 4 lesser poorer gamers will have LowerED drop rate.

It has also been said and confirmed that it will be entirely doable as a two-man team.

Therefore, “coordination” is entirely relative here. Besides, in what you quoted, it is labeled as a simple example meaning it might not be what is actually happening but just what level of “coordination” is required (ie taking turns in doing a simple action… What a change ^^ ) .
Nothing in there says that this is a one-shot attack either, so with the information we have now it could entirely be an optional mechanic to just avoid a hit that you could simply be facetanking.

Not to mention the OP builds that will simply crush that boss before any mechanic…

So no, nothing has changed. Except one thing, we’ll get a tool to easily target what activity we want to do and get other players on board, making all that “I don’t want to group” a matter of a few clicks

Group finder should have been in the base game for all content so people have a CHOICE about playing solo or group then there would never be any of this “forced this” or “forced that”. Everything Blizz has done with D4 has been one extreme or another, why make content exclusively one way? is it too hard to balance so that it scales from 1-4 players or something, you know like the other main Diablo games did for the last 20 odd years.
It really boggles my mind.
