All Hail Scroll of Escape!

It has saved my life so many times. Especially when trying the capstone dungeon lol. I love this item! Who else loves this for hardcore? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I burn a lot when my Barb got locked out of using skills. All greyed out

binded to F1 on the wheel, so a quick E+F1 and im dippin.

you dont even have to press E, if you bind it to F1 it should just be like a 1:1 binding.
I put mine on R and I tested with an emote, pressing R was doing the emote without even opening the wheel

I did that, thanks for the tip! I had it hotkeyed only to the wheel, so I had to press B and top slot, which is of course slower but worked for me - when fighting boss I lost control of the battle, ran out of potions and was overrun, so that saved my behind in a fortress. And after using it I found another one soon after.

Tip: keep extra scrolls in stash, because if you die it will remain in there for other characters, as the scroll seem to be pretty rare. I heard someone finding lots of them, and I only found 3 so far, with 2 characters in the 30’s.

had them and died this morning because the pc went unresponsive for like 20 seconds while I was touching stuff in chrome, I dont know why diablo is so sensitive to touching stuff in another window. Especially youtube or twitch

I was having some connection issues, not specifically D4 related, but PC wise, which I was able to identify as (probably) having to do with twitch being open in the background, and “streaming” in general. Once in a while, maybe once or twice per hour, my internet adapter would reboot (I see in the windows logs), and go back on in like 15-20 seconds. I am not 100% its twitch, but pretty sure, because the problem went away once I started closing Chrome altogether, and torrent software too just in case, when I need reliable connection. So now when I play D4 I just close that stuff and so far not a single disconnect for me.

yeah not sure, I did set it to 60 fps like my foreground fps but sadly no use. Its the only game that I seen doing that ever and ive been playing pc games for almost 30 years now…

PoE, last epoch, etc dont have that issue

Must have on early game HC barbs when The Butcher manages to get the jump on you

already have that, its not a ram issue its just a weird interaction that I cant explain. I make videogames for a living if there was an issue with the machine ill propably know.

The symptoms is similar to those who reported the game freezing if they dont install high res texture pack. (I do have it installed so does not really apply to me)

Went into a nightmare dungeon 5or 6 levels higher than me, 59 in a 65. poison enhanced spiders, with blood boils.
Suffice to say the other dungeons they weren’t much issue but this one the 3rd boss spider I encountered hit like a truck, ran as fast as a race car, I’m very lucky to survive.

I popped a death evasion potion before scroll. Think I could have died from his poison upon returning to town I had like 1% hp left and potion was triggered.

Butcher I beat him with him 4 levels higher than me in a nightmare dungeon. Think early game is where he is a threat, late game at 59, he’s just another ordinary boss. Beat him real good.

I love the idea of this scroll, however, two of my characters died on the open world because of dc. Meh, in my opinion it should also teleport you on any type of disconnection, not only in the dungeon.

D3 was like that, too. We would close EVERYTHING else on the computer, just run d3 and DCs became pretty rare after that. Watch out for Apple and Windows updates though, they’ll jump in over your game and kill you if you don’t disable them or set them to go off when you’re not on.

If I’m watching a streamer, I put it on my ipad next to my PC.

I might even suggest binding it to your mouse where your thumb sits if you have a button there.

You might find you have a quicker reaction time with your thumb than you do with a random finger moving to another key that it doesn’t normally rest on.

You need min 32GB of RAM? Well I play on a Steam Deck … without problems xD

Why is it going to take them until Season 2 to enable auto Scroll of Escape? Is it because Season 1 was already mapped out and they didn’t want to change any major code? I’m confused by this. Why not Season 1? :worried:

Scroll of Escape is useful in D4, but it shouldn’t have to exist. D2 was more efficient just having town portal as an instant cast and not disabling it when you encounter a boss.

Personally, I think the auto-proc defensive aspect for bubble immunity is more useful than scroll of escape because it’s a backup that doesn’t risk resetting the dungeon. The bubble duration is generally long enough to either cast a town portal or refresh evade cooldown.

Instant town portal and instant save&exit in D2 were both terrible from a difficulty point of view. Monsters were tuned to either kill you in 1-2 seconds before you could react, or you never died. Delay is much better. If lag and disconnects weren’t a thing the delay would be perfect, but as it is I think some kind of mechanic like the scroll should absolutely exist.

The immunity aspect is excellent maybe mandatory. Only thing is that it procs a bit too easily so most of the time it procs from mundane damage and is on cooldown for when you might really need it. But still it’s a great way to assess what’s going on and either reposition or get out.
