Recently I sniffed a scroll of amnesia since I finally acquired all the gear for another build. Just for laughs, I removed all my gear and wanted to run outside and give a zombie the hands before redoing my build and there is NO basic melee attack. You have to have a skill equipped or your char doesn’t even know how to throw hands. I was shocked.

and if you could slap a zombie for 1 point of damage what then?
you dont have to have a skill. you do have to have a weapon though
you could do that in d3 and there even where some animations for the default attack that have been unused entirely.
Is this some new sexual thing?

I think there was even an achievement in D3 for killing Diablo with a bare fist but on the other hand you couldn’t even rebind a left click. Then those weapon limits per class while in D2 you can just use anything on anyone (except class specific items tho). They also still don’t know how to properly make force move like PoE.
yeah this is trash legacy from D3. Same games.
err on this specific topic , D4 can’t do what D3 could (attacking without skill or weapon) so i don’t know if it has anything to do with D3…
i mean i get it you spam “D3” on about every topic but this…?

FWIW in case you didn’t know, if you change the option to remove attack from Lclick to Move there is a new option that appears that is Move + Interact. If you select that previously invisible one then it is very close to PoE levels.
You should have tried to do the dance of friendship then.

You could do that in Diablo ONE (and two).
I think D4 is the only Diablo game that doesn’t let you use unarmed attacks (though I don’t know about immortal, if count that one).
On the other hand, like LavaWisp said, you can attack without a skill equiped… But only if you have a weapon.
On the other-other hand, not any weapon will do it: Rogues have to have two dagger/sword items equiped; they can’t just “shoot bow”, which I find extremely weird (especially early on in my first playthrough, when I had to choose between making the skill I wanted stronger or making my bow slot not-useless).

At least you could slap a zombie for 1 point of damage. But also some objects in the world require you to attack it to open them.
