Mine just crashed right at the Diablo screen during the loading of the game. I don’t know if having a high res pack mattered at that time. Blizzard just screwed up something so majorly they don’t even know what to fix.
I feel the “high res pack” has same asset but in higher resolution… but the file in this package is in good condition meanwhile the “base game” version is in be bad / corruption state. Therefore unless we check the “high res” package for now, the game will still using the bad “base game” file.
Imma sure after the staff replace the source of bad file then we all can play without the High Rez pack
hmmm… Let say there is bad texture in base game file and when u load the game it need to read that bad file and the game having a hard time… so it thinking a lot using RAM and explode. Meanwhile when we choose to use “high-res” package. Those bad files are getting replaced with the files in “high-res” package which it on good condition, then the problem doesn’t occur.
I have to disagree.
There are factual statements where people have used a VPN and the game worked fine. But without it, these symptoms manifested.
I have seen at least 3 posts that this was the case.
So that tells me its not about the packs but about the server connection at the time.
You yourself have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it.
If it were the problem you claim, this would affect nearly EVERYONE.
Oh i didn’t know about VPN thing. If it like that then i agree that it must be server side / connection.
but in my case i was able to play it smoothly after installing the “High Res Asset”.

Maybe you should review your fenris logs from when you were having issues and see what they say? They might list any issues when accessing those points, like Vendors and stuff. The logs are pretty detailed.

To confirm, using a VPN or downloading the Hi-res texture pack solved my freezing problem.
I don’t know why or how they are related but at least you have 2 options to fix the issue for now. Either use VPN or if you don’t have one, just download the Hi-res texture pack.

And as I said, that is an assumption on your part. Please stop telling everyone that.
Nothing was replaced. The high res packs are simply higher quality texture files. That’s it. They do not replace anything.
I think the game is try to load high res textures for some parts of the game (like vendors) and if you don’t have them, it uses the internet to get them and you freeze or lock up while it fetches. Hence why some that use a VPN also fix this same issue. But this may also indicate an issue with different servers then thinking you need the high res packs when you don’t have them because you are in a certain location by the IP address.
Its a friggin mess.
Sure downloading the packs may fix it for now, but the problem is regional connection by location.
But to be clear, they don’t replace anything. They are just used instead of the normal res versions.

Dropping back in again to confirm VPN or high-res asset pack seems to have solved the freezing issue for me as well 
I’ve been having this issue for a few days now.
I have been running on Low graphic settings to troubleshoot the issue.
Installing the high-res asset pack seems to have resolved my issues.
Chiming in on using the high-res asset pack.
Would be nice if it’s not needed though…
