I just started playing D4 last week, everything was working fine but since yesterday ,my screen started to lock up and freeze every time I do an action for the first time in that session.
Open inventory - 5 sec freeze
Talk to a vendor - 5 sec freeze
Got a new item open inventory another 5 sec freeze
and so one
I have tried many community fixes disabling browser acceleration, changing text size and what not . But it hasn’t worked for me .
Anybody has any idea what’s going on ??
Same here, the game freezes for 3-5 sec when I open any game window (stash, npc, etc.), & when entering a new zone.
It was fine 3 days ago. Latency (60-100ms ping) & game combat are fine too.
I tried scan & repair, clearing Nvidia cache, reinstalling GPU driver & trying different settings, still not fix.
So, I suspect it’s a server issue. maybe it’s lagging when it’s trying to save the game to the server.
Edit: During these freezes, my GPU usage drops to 0 (normal game at 80-100%), & my CPU & memory is at 50%.
So that means, my PC is just standing by, maybe waiting to receive data from the server?
Specs:
AMD 3900X
32GB ram
Nvidia 3060Ti
SSD 1Tb
700+Mbps internet
I am getting the same issue as well. It’s been happening for two days for me now.
I am playing on America servers from Singapore. I don’t know if it’s lag related or not. =/
After today’s backend update, it got worse. Instead of freezing during the abovementioned situation, it now freezes randomly all over the place, & becomes unplayable.
Maybe it’s time to give up, stop, move on, & play something else.
I have the same issue. will play another game while waiting for the next update.
Btw, are you using AMD CPU?

There has been some suspicion of this being network related.
I only had one instance where a user connected with a VPN and the problem went away, but haven’t been able to confirm that.
I’m also thinking it’s network related. I’ve been experiencing similar issues for the past 4 or so days and I tried connecting through a VPN today - it worked normally without the long pause when opening menus, taking portals, etc. etc.
I’m connecting from Thailand to Asia and The Americas but I’m experiencing this issue regardless of there I connect when I’m not using the VPN.
Make that 3 now.
Interesting. This suggests the problem is network related, as if the game is trying to download assets when you stall.

Turn off cross platform functions first.
If that doesn’t work, i suggest lowering your graphic settings. You may just be over taxing your gpu.

I already tried to turn off cross platform… I still get the issue.
I haven’t really tried lowering my graphics settings… though I wonder about this because, with the same graphic settings, everything was ok last week, up to Sunday morning, my time.
Not sure its about network relate, i tried in both Malaysia and Singapore with different PC and both freeze almost everytime open inventory and interact with NPC, if interact NPC doesnt freeze, it will have a big delay which is no problem before last week
I am also in Singapore. Sunday, 13 October, morning in Malaysia and early afternoon in Singapore also looked to be ok.
It was only from the evening on Sunday in Singapore that I started having issues. =/
Have you guys installed the high res texture pack? I have same issues on the freezy inventory or TPs etc, my freeze last for 30 sec to 1 mins.
I tried to install the high res pack, it’s work great and smooth after all.
I just installed it this morning. I will try later when I get back from work.
Weird how this would affect it. I don’t think it was needed before. =/

EDIT: I guess the assets in base game might get damaged and it slip staff scans 
Well, I guess everyone that doesn’t already have the high res are the only ones affected?
Has anyone asked that question? If that’s the case, then I should try to run the game from the laptop, as it doesn’t have the high res packs… No point in removing them from my desktop, I actually use the high res pack since I’m running 1440p.
Just find it odd that so many wouldn’t have a high res pack installed, since it is by default.
However.
If they broke something that is forcibly requiring the game to download a high res asset for something they click on (such as a vendor) and it causes the stall, that could be an issue.
But it has also been found that using a VPN affects this. So that tells me its a server related problem, and for some reason some connections to some servers in some areas must be triggering a download of the high res pack when it shouldn’t be, since the same person with the same system can fix it by using a VPN.
Make sense?
