Scammer Alert: Player Asking for Gold First Without Showing Item

Hello Blizzard team,

I’d like to report an incident where a player attempted to scam me during a trade by requesting gold upfront without showing the promised item. When I declined, I was met with mocking behavior and bold claims that no consequences would follow.

This situation involved multiple accounts working together to create a false sense of trust. Their tactics included impersonating a legitimate trade and then shifting blame once caught.

I have submitted all evidence — including screenshots and full video footage — through appropriate private channels. I understand and respect that forum rules do not allow publicly naming individuals, so I’m refraining from doing so here.

:warning: I am sharing this to raise awareness and ask that these kinds of cases be taken seriously, as they hurt community trust and create a toxic environment for honest players.

If any Blizzard staff member would like to follow up on this report, I am happy to provide the evidence again directly through official support.

Thank you for your time and continued efforts to keep the game fair and safe

You can report the player directly in game.
Right click on their name in the chat

or on the social tab…looks similar but in red, not posting a screenshot.

Or open a ticket. (looks like you did)

But you cannot post “name and shame” threads here on the forums it is against the COC.

I’m not a mod so no big deal…just trying to keep you from getting in trouble…remove the name and they likely will not remove the thread.

always good to remember people tho. glad you didnt become a victim to this.

The whole story sounds fishy and its good you didnt fall for it. but yea, others might. Report these people and go your way. Kinda sad that there are people that try to scam in the easiest arpg.

You can show the gold first with no problem. As long as you don’t lock in your fine they can’t take your gold

Best solution, don’t trade?

Second best solution, don’t click “Accept” until everything is there… But that is on the one trading, not on programming.

I really can’t see how this exchange can be prevented with trading allowed.
