Scaling and Hardcore

Hi there,

Little bit of a background. Been a diablo player for 20 years, and damn I love this game. The grind, picking your skills, upgrading the gear, and ecentually being able to overpower the monsters you are facing.

I’m a hardcore player, always been, always will be. I love the thrill of I can die anytime, and pushing myself further and further.

I’ve been runing non-hardcore for the first play through of campaign, always do that before going hardcore for the rest of the game.

But this time around, I feel I won’t like it at all. The scaling (which have no place in any diablo game) will kill the way to attack hardcore. There’s no way to overpower monster with character strengh. When facing bosses, I want to make sure I’m stronger then them…not possible.

I know it’s probably to late to move back from scaling and make it that each region as it’s level. But I just wanted to say that everything from this game I like, but the scaling was the one move that’s making back off the game.

Thank you for reading this.

You can control it with skills somewhat. Also respec being so cheap and accessible if you want to overpower content a bit you’ll want to make the best build for that level, and when you can scramble something better respec again. At least that’s what I am doing, for instance necro blood surge seems insane for leveling, so you want to pick that at first for sure, until you can make synergies for your “true” build available through the talent tree. I am sure every class has way better skills at early level, which might not be that good in the end, but respec is almost free, and you get to try out all the skills that way and see which works for you, because some are just awkward to play IMO
