Sanctuary Warriors - when?

With the upcoming release of Dynasty Warriors Origins, it’s made me wonder why Blizz has never teamed up with Koei Tecmo to create such a game based in Diablo.

The lore is certainly there. The endless demonic hordes would work. I’m sure with enough tinkering there would be enough playable characters too.

This, and Star Wars are the two franchises that would work well (outside of the already existing games) with a 1v100 type setup.

So why not?

A Diablo spin off huh?

I can see it working, but I’ll bet people would complain regardless.

I want a Mario like Dynasty Warriors more though.

A lot to work out here from license to rights to profit splits and who is in charge and such. Very hard to get two big companies to do something like this and make it successful. Big companies dont play well with other big companies. They cant barely get their own company to put out a product on time and with minimal bugs and make $.

This is something I never considered, but can certainly see how it’d work.

Screw that gimme a fps Diablo that plays like doom with classes.

Wait doom dark ages is coming nvm

I want a Diablo cart racer!

Seriously, a spin off in a different genre could be fun.

I want a Diablo flight sim!!! :small_airplane:

I feel the need… the need for speed

There is a big appetite for these games and I could see this one working as only Bliz could make it if they ever u know put down the cookbooks.

Super Sanctuary Racers:

Playable Heroes would be pulled from all Diablo Games -
These choices would affect their car speed, power, stability, acceleration, size, grant 1 usable ability and 1 passive ability, and

Defeating a player gives you an option to steal their weapon and defense boosts.

Speed - Top speed.
Power - How much you bump other players
Stability - How much you resist bump other players
Acceleration - How fast you gain speed.
Size - Size of your hitbox to either affect other players or be hit by other players.

Some examples:

Bard:
Passive Ability - The bard can choose 2 passives but no usable ability.
Usable Ability - none

Amazon:
Passive Ability -
Usable Ability - Throw a piercing spear in a straight line. This recharges on lap completion if you are in 1 2 3 or 4th place.

Mage:
Passive Ability - The Best Defense is a Good Offense = The mage has no defense boost but room for 2 weapon boosts.
Usable Ability - Magic Missile which is a low damage but 100% always hits the target and cant be blocked. Magic Missile regenerates when you pick up a weapon or steal weapon.

Necro:
Passive Ability - Army of the Dead = Slowly spawn zombies and skeletons on the track that attack other cars.
Usable Ability - Bone Meal = Run into your minions to heal your car for a limited time.

Barb:
Passive Ability - Rage = Deals more damage the less health he has.
Usable Ability - Whirlwind - Deal a large amount of damage around you but lose steering power. Best used on straightaways. Chance to leave dust devils.

Druid:
Passive Ability - Shapechange. Has a wolf and bear car he can turn into for different strategies for a limited time. The wolf is super fast and the bear has 5 star power.
Usable Ability - Changes based on form.

Paladin:
Passive Ability - Chance to block any damaging attack that hits him. Chance is higher at more health. The paladin uses weapon boosts at 20% less effectiveness and defense boosts at 20% bonus effectiveness.
Usable Ability - Divine Shield = 4 seconds of invulnerability on a long cooldown. Chance to recharge if you are in first place on lap completion.

Game would have not only power boosts in red ?s but defense boosts in blue ?s.
A car can have 1 defense and 1 power boost at once and these have random rarites. Mythic rarity boosts regenerate their uses overtime.

Treasure gobs that spawn on the track grant more rare boosts.

An active track helltide will remove all defense boosts from track and spawn fire enemies like fire demons.

Tracks would be different dungeons.

Winning races and such gives you materials to upgrade your car parts. Unlock unique and legendary parts to further customize and gain some power.

Each season lasts 1 month and has leaderboards and cosmetic rewards on season end.

I ran out of idea on this here…

Hellgate London would like to have a word with you!

Joking aside, the idea of that game was awesome, the execution was attrocious.

I DO recommend Gunfire Reborn, it’s a roguelike but it has classes and feels great to play.

Heretic/Hexen is back?

I miss Heretic… Spent a lot of time in that as a kid.

Dang it! I don’t have 80 years to wait for this.

Warriors Orochi already exists. Which makes me cringe knowing I know that. But that is the demon horde version of Dynasty Warriors and it does indeed have non-canon classes that do play like mages, druids, warriors etc.

Sad to me that Greybeard doesn’t own the IP…

Note to self - if you ever manage to create a game that anyone besides you wants to actually play, personally file any/all patents and copyrights in your own name. If you ever form a studio as a business, or make a deal with a studio or publisher insist that licensing the IP to them is the only way a deal happens. They don’t ever own it period!

Why does that make you cringe? Warriors Orochi is a great game.

It’s a great series, yes, but it still makes me wince because it really does have a knock-off Diabloesque feel to it now that I think about it. Well that and the characterization is ridiculous.

Hell gate London sucked hard

OMG Hellgate London was so awful…
