i mean, it doesnt do that in poe2 and people survive… but… we know the d4 community…. i guess we need a warning for that.
No, it’s not optional.
I keep hearing people say that all the time - “If you don’t like it, just ignore it.”
That’s a basic logical mistake. Why?
Because these so-called “optional” changes replace what could’ve been better ones.
In reality, because of simplified item affixes and the nerfed tempering system, our characters got heavily nerfed, and we are expecting this “optional” thing to make up for it.
So you see, it’s not optional at all but quite the opposite - Sanctification has basically become a forced choice in the new system, and that forced choice only leads to negative power gains and a frustrating gameplay experience.
Strongly do not recommend to use it without a dublicate of an item. Yesterday, one blogger used it on all item for the sake of the experiment. 3 of them received additional strength, and all the rest were simply spoiled. Some items even received not just additional useless statistics, but were actually destroyed.
Even more, it may to delete the uniq power.
you can scream that its not optional all you want, but the fact remains that it is optional, just like the Vaal orbs in poe2. It is the final part of an items journey, which might empower it greatly, but eventually trashs it.
You dont use them if you dont have an emergency replacement item at all, easy as that. If you decide to recklessly sanctify your items, then you must also deal with the consequence of items eventually not becoming what you want them to become.
Diablo 4 hath no its own identity cos the developers are creatively impotent.
I won’t be forced to use it. Maybe its because I will be able to figure out when it will be worth the risk.
With all of the gambling tradeoffs blizzard has been implementing in to their games over the years, I’m beginning to think they’re going to start developing apps for casinos.
It will always be worth the risk as it is the only means of itemization progression really providing massive power creep chunks instead of fluid progression.
I understand what you’re saying. But that’s literally the entire seasonal mechanic outside of refarming the lilith statues. Literally the worst season to date. And likely the last one before the next expansion. They really aren’t trying too hard to sell it, though given the state of S11.
The Corruption and Blessings are the Seasonal mechanic. Nobody gives a hot camels backside about that. All of the power resides in Sanctification. Having each item potentially provide x30% to x200% damage is insane.
They’re completely out of touch. This is what happens when people making a game, don’t play games.
Is it really hard to adapt to games these days? Guess I’m just old cause that’s what I do in every game I play.
I mean we can only demand from the devs so much before this becomes,if it didn’t already, a “too many chefs in the kitchen problem. I mean everyone has their own version of what would make this diablo a good game.
I mean we still have issues with ID’ing the endgame.(maybe I should bump that topic, people are necroing year old threads anyways might as well).’
Yeah, the devs should have stuck to their guns after that big Season 0 patch they made. Too much flip flopping trying to please everyone.
Sanctification just needs to be hardcore compatible, slapping something like indestructible makes you wonder if devs even acknowledge hardcore mode of the game.
I feel like that is the main “what is this” moment that throws players off.
Beyond that any competent player knows to have a backup item before trying it, so having it as an option is just redundant to say towards hardcore players.
Yeah i prefered when if you had one indestructible item it make everything that way. This stat is only good for bots. Blizz should not encourage it
Is there a chance for an affix to be replace on mythics?
Far as I know, yes.
…..
kinda crazy to say when i recall you clearly praising poe2 ![]()
Interesting. A shroud with GA damage after stealth could be replaced with something more useful.
It’s optional on your currently equipped item. You shouldn’t sanctify an item that is your current BiS. Same with POE vaal orbs.
But it’s still too rare to get pre sanctified godly gear, and so there should be a less punishing mechanic, I don’t think overwriting an existing affix is the right approach and you should be able to resanctify or unsanctify at the right cost.
