Sanctification is Optional

If you don’t want to risk it, stay away from the biscuits. It’s a lot like vaal orbs from PoE/2. Vaaling something is a flex move. If you cant afford to risk losing the item don’t do it.

Play the game is optional as well… yet, here we are.

exactly this. But you know how it goes - as soon as something isnt a guaranteed win, people go crazy.

Its not optional because the :sheep: will be told by some streamer they need to. Then the tears will be salty because they didnt get what they were told they needed.

Critical thinking can not be found with the playerbase.

same as obtaining chaos armor and using them.
if chaos armor could deliver pure full buff for the grind effort,
why do devs have to make angel screw up our gears?

I don’t think +1 Aspect is optional — it’s way too big of a boost

Unless you get the wrong aspect. Sure if you were guaranteed to get a second aspect of your choosing, not a problem, but that won’t be the case here. It’s a completely different mindset for Sanctification that I doubt the player base as a whole will ever realize.

To be fair the game hasn’t done much to prepare the casual player base for this change either. Expectation will be that it’s needed, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

This currently seems to be the biggest hurdle people have with the system. You add in a pure element of RNG with good and bad options and people just have no idea how to deal with it. When you travel in a straight line for so long, and you finally see a fork in the road, you have no idea which way to go.

Well actually it can replace an affix. So not only don’t you get what you want it can remove the key affix that you farmed for weeks to get a GA on.

So yeah, the entire item is then junk.

If people are not willing to take a chance they should not roll the dice.

Adding the Santification in S11 as a seasonal theme or core mechanic from the dev perspective is also optional.

But why is it implemented anyway? We can keep.playing this optional rhetoric lol.

While I can understand why some people feel the way they do, I also think alot of this sentiment will go away once build guides get updated for next season and everyone sees that no builds actually require sanctification to work or do most of the content.

I would not be surprised if they make some adjustments to sanctification post PTR.

D4 is not PoE in case you haven’t noticed - the player base is entirely different and has different expectations of game systems.

Here is an idea. Why not changing Sanctification to only ADD something and not replacing anything?

While I agree that no builds will require this, the player base as a whole will still be upset. The game has done nothing but push power at the player pretty much since S2. Optional content being added that the player doesn’t have to interact with is when people get angry.

AoZ got a lot of backlash when it first came out, ‘they should spend their time on base game changes not adding in something no one but the streamers will play.’ Sentiments along those lines. DC was the same way, optional but mandatory co-op rubbing people the wrong way. There’s plenty of examples mind you.

So when you bring in a new system like this, that has the potential to add power, but more often than not will not in fact add any, the player base you’ve conditioned up to this point rejects it by default. There’s nothing ‘fun’ to the current player base to have to go through hoops for the potential of extra power, meanwhile risking items at the same time. The game just has never worked that way.

I agree. Power creep is addictive and everyone wants their fix every season, but this season seems to the be the season the devs want us to go through a little withdrawal. As is evident here in the forums, people don’t like being deprived of what they want.

this mechanic is just like the PoE gem reset if you wanted the blue affix in it after redoing the 20 lvling. Yes it is optional and RNG so yeah many will not risk their gear just for an RNG affix.

I say Juice it, I mean its a flex so go for High Stakes. Sanctification allways rolls max, Good/bad rolls MAX. Give it some OMF, something worth the High Heavens and the dice roll.
