Sacred Unique with same STAT Max as Ancestral? Wtf

So I just got an Ancestral Word of Hakan(thinking it would be an upgrade) only to see the exact same STAT caps as the Sacred version, and not only that but stats were worse lol… wtf Blizz??

The stat bracket depends on the item power. Ancestral items can also drop below 700. The highest stat bracket is reached with item power 725+.

This also means that practically every item, no matter if sacred or ancestral with an item power starting from 700 can be upgraded with 5/5 to 725 and thus also be raised to the final bracket.

The chance that ancestral items drop above 700 is of course significantly higher than for sacred items. Sacred items over 700 drop as often as ancestral items over 800, which means very rarely.

Ok, but my one item is power level 706 +25 (Sacred) and the Ancestral is power level 768 +25, but the STATs are WORSE…the only difference is literally the Res All mod which is a whopping 1.6%, this doesnt add up.

Here are the STATs:
Sacred Unique Word of Hakan (Item power 706 +25)
Non-phys Dmg - 21.8% of 26.2%
Ult Dmg - 30% of 31.5%
Crit Str Dmg with Imb 24.8% of 26.2%
+3 Rank of all Imb Skills
Res ALL 24.9%

Ancestral Word of Hakan (Item Power 768 +25)
Non-phys Dmg 15.8% of 26.2% (6% LOWER)
Ult Dmg 21% of 31.5% (9% LOWER)
Crit Dmg w/Imb 22.5% of 26.2% (2.2% LOWER)
+1 Rank All Imb Skills (2 Skill points LOWER)
26.5% Res ALL (1.6% Higher)

Even if they fall into the same cap(725+), the Power level doesn’t add up. That Ancestral should be power level 700 max, not 768.

I had that on the mothers embrace rings i found. I got 1 for completing campaign at lvl52 another at lvl54 item power 540, another at lvl64 item power 740 another at lvl71 item power 760 (or 770 i cant remember) and another at lvl86 item power 802. Im still using the 740 item power as its stats are slightly better than the 2 i found at later lvl’s with higher item powers

The stats being lower is just bad rng. Has nothing to do with the maxes not reflecting higher ilvl.

Thats exactly my point. The STATS should determine the power level of the item, but it doesn’t. 24 of 26% should be a higher power level than 10 of 26%, right? So why is the lower RNG STAT roll have a higher power level than a higher STAT roll? This is the part that doesn’t add up.

The stats are higher (higher range)

If you look at sacred versus ancestral items, the range for each stat has higher potential for the ancestral. If uou turn on advanced tooltips in the menu, you can see the ranges

Example:

Sacred gloves - 25 dexterity (10-30)
Ancestral gloves 20 dexterity (20-40)

Ancestral versus sacred means nothing, item power means nothing UNLESS it is a higher stat roll than the sacred max potential roll.

So the ancestral unique has a higher POTENTIAL to get better stats, but the stats can actually be lower than the sacred item.

This is why item power means nothing……gotta look at the specific stats you’re looking for.

Except the max range is the same for both Sacred and Ancestral(yes, i have the tooltips on). I posted the full item stats above for both versions(including the ranges). So if the item power means nothing, then why does it exist?

Item power only makes a difference beyond 725 or whatever for weapon damage and resistance that comes with the item, so Weapons+Offhands and ring/amulet.

So you definitely want the highest item level possible for those as all your skills scale off weapon damage, while getting the highest variance rolls as possible.

Armour level also scales with item power for Helm/Chest/Legs/Boots/Gloves.
But the attributes for the items are at max variance level at 725

Yeah that’s where another hurdle jumps up, item power - which is random within each WT.

^^^ This. When i realized that (brackets) have overlaps, a lot started making sense. My example two gloves: Sacred crit ch 7.5, Anc crit ch 3.5.
