S9 - when ? Please confirm date, Blizzard

2 weeks until july, 1st and we have no confirmation at all if we get a new season then…

Diablo 4 Season 9 is scheduled to release on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, and unless Blizzard says differently this is the release date of Season 9, which will begin at 10AM PST and 1PM EST.

However, this may be the first season in Diablo 4 - I may actually skip - including future seasons until this game finally gets fixed and improved for real, especially after playing the S9 PTR! It was simply bad, dull, still buggy and grindy, and just disappointing - especially with the unnecessary D4 mass nerfs that are taking away player progress and the Power Fantasy and Fun in the game, which is still in Beta and has no REAL end game yet!

Hopefully, Blizzard will finally fix and improve Diablo 4 sooner than later for all D4 players who paid and support this game, because after 2 years of broken promises by Blizzard, these fixes, quality of life features and improvements in D4 are all well overdue! - JJ -

Yeah, PTR was in a bad state… but it’s ptr. This is no excuse to be so full of bugs but it’s purpose is to find all the bugs and other problems and fix them before release of the new season.
I am quite optimistic most of the problems will be gone when season 9 arrives.

If only any PTR resulted in all or most bugs being fixed in d4 then I’d agree with ya but every single season leading to this one points the other way sadly

For those curious about their own time zones.

By now it’s pretty much certain it’s going live on July 1st as others said. It’s two weeks out so it’d be wild if they didn’t already announce a delay. I’m sure there will be patch notes that help address issues from the PTR, but probably nothing dramatic.

As others said 1st July is a safe bet, because there is no delay between season end and start like 2-3 weeks in d3.

Updated patch notes gonna be published next week probably.

So, Campfire next week?

More than likely, my guess is Thursday, but it could be Tuesday. (This is answering the person above me, not about when the season starts)

Always Tuesday lol never any other day

Sorry that was in reply to Kubikluc’s reply about when the campfire was going to be. Not the launch of the season which is in fact always on Tuesdays.

My mistake sorry wasn’t sure

You think it’s good to have a mechanic in the game that by having the best survivability you also get the most damage?
Overpower is still the highest damage.

Season 6 introduced this damage by accident and it took Blizzard 3 seasons to fix it. For those who aren’t aware, the stats squish in season 6 with VoH reduced the base life of all classes, but the max life is still about the same. That way the additive damage bonus, that is calculated as max life per base life, got multiplied by 5 to 10.
Now it got divided by 5 again.
So it’s not really a nerf, it’s more like a correction of an error introduced in the past.

The sad part about it is that some builds now rely on overpower more than they should and some builds aren’t really working without that ridiculous bonus.
Blizzard now have to look at this build individually and decide if this builds should exist and how to buff them accordingly.

With June being a holiday and the no kings events, I imagine they are short staffed and S9 could be a big mess.

The new season always starts the day the current season ends unless posted otherwise by blizzard why do they need the give the date
When the game already tells you the date

Yes, this is a nerf and only ppl with trash builds wanted it, because they are too lazy to put in their work to progress their characters and when they see someone one shot; they come to the forums and complain about a certain class nor accept help and learn from other peoples ideas and apply it to their character. This NERF is to encourage Party Finder (grouping).

Every nerf blizzard does points to forced multiplayer.

What you are saying to other people is “play a build with overpower and should up”.
Blizzard cannot even buff crit builds instead, because all overpower builds crit 100 % of the time.

The devs are having some benchmarks that they missed in the past.

  1. The tankiest builds should not also do the most damage.
  2. The fastest builds should not also do the most damage.
  3. No build should be immune all the time.
  4. Characters should actively invest in defenses and sacrifice damage for that.
    1. is the overpower nerf.
All non-overpower builds are having up to 3k additive damage bonuses, overpower have more like 5k and are getting 10k to 30k more with more max life. If ignoring additive damage stats on your items and instead invest in more max life gives you more damage, than the balance is massively off.
    1. for example the nerf to lightning spear sorc for season 9.
Speed running pit 70 to 80 in under 2 minutes, pit 99 in under 3 minutes.
Other classes cannot even run the dungeon within 2 minutes without killing any mobs.
    1. We had necromancer with blood mist and also sorc being immune for whole seasons.
    1. is the way Blizzard wants us to go. If we ever get there depends on the devs.

There is no item in the game that have you apply overpower with critical strike in the game 100% of the time. One must get to a certain level of resources “spent” for it to activate (even if they have runes installed). Without such items, by default; overpower to activate is at 3.0% which is very low.

Since blizzard is going to nerf overpower, ok fine; but don’t ask a player to group nor carry. Don’t even intend to force group up; because every class in the game is now weak. So since blizzard is going to cater to the player that do less than the minimum, fine; but I’ll be out. It’s a matter of finding another game as easy as I found this one.

The hours spent researching builds, trying ideas and running pits to get the highest lvl with my char possible should not be in vain; because of a lazy player. It’s blizzard game and true they can do what they will, but on my end as the customer I will then choose the next steps following this unnecessary nerf. Nerfing overpower is not going to fix the issues with this game, it’s not. It’s not going to make a lazy player more active than they want to be.

Every nerf that blizzard is doing is killing the solo experience. Its like they are saying D4 is moving away from the solo experience to MMO.

But start of next season will be full of bugs. The same bugs they fix every season.

It will close the gap which is at least one broken aspect getting addressed.

No it will not fix what else is broken in the game though, you are right about that. If you played PTR it is still OverPower doing the most damage it is just not 1000X more than everything else anymore. Which was the goal to making other approaches viable.

As for this idea that lazy players wanted OP nerfed is absurd…I mean almost every streamer said it was out of control…so I guess they are lazy too?
